Hi all - can't keep up with posts so hope everyone is fine & surviving this very squelchy weather. Disgusting here - how can it rain so much?

Good that you've touched base, so we know you're OK. :hello:

There's been a lot more of the wet stuff up there than down here, yet everything here's still sodden, so I can't imagine what your land is like!

Fat cat had a funny turn tonight; almost burned her nose looking into the woodburner, then keeled over in the doorway, got up and had trouble putting one foot in front of t'other. She isn't the most agile creature, or the most intelligent, but this was pretty bad, even for her. I'm guessing at a mini-stroke.

    She's fine now.:)

    Hi Dave,

It's running with water - the burns are in such spate.

Dave - the fat cat thing is a worry. We had that with our old cat a couple of years back, but he's still with us - although all skinny & stone deaf now.
One thing that is very bad I was told is scented candles & the like, it can give cats epilepsy & 'funny turns'.

We can't do owt outdoors as it's unending torrential rain - making up for our glorious Summer no doubt!

My better half looked at something to do with the Speedo on the car & our computer was locked & they demanded money out of pay pal to unlock it! So that's been at the computer man in Ullapool!

I do miss it when I'm not on-line especially at this time of year when the days are so very short indeed.

That's a new computer scam called 'ransomware.'

If you have trouble again, Malwarebytes is very helpful. They helped me for free when I had problems this time last year. :)

No scented candles here, though it won't be long before there are, as DW goes all Diwali at this time of year. ;)
  • Maybe your cat is having a bit of a senior moment Davesnave, the main thing its ok now...

Looks as though the peak of this cold was last night, where the intense pain, runny nose etc.. still feel rough, still got all the symptons, but not like last night..

Been watching I'm a celeb, lol.. it looks like spohie webster isn't just a charecter in a soap... how irriating she is...:mad:

That boxer guy looks like a tidy guy..

Glad you're on the up, CTC. :)

My bill hook has just arrived. It's a genuine old Spear & Jackson southern counties style hook, which usually makes around £25 on the Bay, so why it was up as a £10 BIN, I'm not sure.

Looks very solid, and certainly feels it, but it's a bit larger than the hooks I like best, known as spar hooks. This one might actually do instead of the machete I was talking about. Only one way to find out....:D

    Edit:
Fat cat had a few funny turns in the night. I did like you CTC and kipped on the sofa, or tried to. Trouble is, every time either of them moved I woke up! Later in the night thin cat seemed troubled and decided to sleep on top of me....something she never does normally. Bleary-eyed now, while they are both sleeping peacefully.....

What about some kind of non-combustible curtain across the lot?

I am keeping that in mind too. And to hide the freezer that was never meant to be going in there but now is. I have a small piece of fabric just big enough for the window that I hoped to use for the blind for that window, but it clashes a bit with the red, I can live with it in a nice autumnal sort of way (it's sort of coppery salmony pastoral scene) but using a more nuetral curtail that is washable over the boiler and freezer could help a lot. Not sure what that would be yet.

So, because of electric issues and getting the elctrition back on sote we know the heating cannot be commisioned before tuesday.

This combines with the install being a day late so that the plumber from the building team, who was meant to be here to test our pipes etc on the day it was turned on needs to come back again.

Getting people to coordinate is very difficult part of the process.
