I cannot find our bird feeder :(. I really wanted to get it all set up for the birdies now that the front garden is being reclaimed to become garden again from building site.

I think it might have ended up on the skip. I cannot afford another one till next month :(.
I am wondering what I have that can be adapted without looking too junky (I put our bird feeder at the fornt of the house which is now painfully visable with the hedge gone!). I don't want to hang then from the fence at the side as it will lp make easy pickings for the feral cats and more weeding over borders.

We're not feeding birds yet as there's still lots of natural food about, but I expect all that to change within a month. TBH I think we also realise how expensive an extra it is when we also have those other big birds to feed! :o

Pete was here today with his postman assistant.....putting in posts!:)

Meanwhile, we're considering getting another postman to start the Aga for us this year and a third one to shift some of the earth mounds that are in the way of some more fencing.

After some research, I think it's unlikely that we can lose our refurb rubble down at Mr Dog's end, so we shall fill-in the previous owner's failed pond with some of our surplus earth mounds instead. Having recently removed over a tonne of fly-tipped demolition materials from the stream area, I can see where the Environment Agency's coming from, although I'd have preferred something 'solid' there, before covering over and re-planting. :(

Apparently, we can build a hard standing or a track, which is handy.....and I want a hell of a soakaway near the house, after seeing how high the water table rises! :)

I buy fat balls for the birds from Poundland - £1 for 8 - which is great buy. I hang up peanuts & also the rind off roasts. They get all the hips & berries & stuff off the plants, but I do think that they deserve feeding as I've attracted so many it's amazing to watch the feeder tree outside the caravan hanging with dozens off garden birds. They also get grain spillage so plenty of food for them.

Had my bone scan which is looking okay apart for some thining of the hips so that's such a relief & the last scan thing. It's been a scary time these past few months & then with Mum passing - just a roller coaster really.

Car broke down on way home. I flagged down a car & OH is getting towed 30 odd miles into nearest garage - forgot the gate key so had to shin over the deer gate - could just tell that me bones are okayish!!! Made it easier knowing that some how.

Get all full results in a couple of weeks but less fraught than it was a couple of months back.

Funny it getting dark so early - all I could think of was that the hens were okay as I blundered about with my little torch in the mud that's everywhere getting their doors closed.

    Stove on & coffee made.

What a day & it's now hailing hard against the van.

I also give them any kitchen fat that's not been salted, and fat balls when on good offers.

I like to put food out while there is still some other draw for them here, I the hedges etc, so they know to keep coming. Now we have taken the front hedge away I think they will feel we have taken food and home potential, but I enjoy seeing them and that part of the garden is a nice spot. :)

The breeder sent me a picture of the puppy chasing a leaf in their garden. The breed should have a low tail set, but my little boy insists on wagging his way up high...but at least it's constantly wagging.

LIR DH's families house cow was a Jersey. there's a dairy herd of Jerseys in the next village to me.They are so beautiful.
I don't know the name of the hybrid re hens just that the chicken farmer said they are German.
All peaceful here today. 2 more eggs and I'm getting to grips with the over grown veg plot. did a bit of pruning too its looking better and I'm feeling better and not so over whelmed by it all. Taking a few barrow loads of well rotten muck to the veg beds each day now. starting to see an improvemnet.
hoping to get decent path laid this winter. its grass at the moment and gets either very muddy or very weedy.

Today is second to last (I hope) big site meeting of phase one.

We are addressing the hot water cylinder today...it's a little larger than dimensions suggestted, rofl. Pft, dimensions.....just a guidline?

We have a coule of options, I do not want to resite, but we are considering getting two, smaller tanks to link.

It was red in the morning this morning, but the forecast seems ok, just looking around I can see my pelargoniums are desperate for some attention. I think I saw rust in some on an upstairs window sil.
