The unthinkable is cash-in and move on to something easier or more lucrative. Not keen on that, but until we get some quotes we're just muddling along.
I haven't forgotten your suggestion that we could rent out for equestrian here. While I wouldn't want to, if it would make a significant financial difference, I might.
In my heart I'd rather help Pete, but we can't run as a charity.0 -
Ah well, those gorgeous moss agate & gold antique buttons are off to France, and sold two bottles of yellow liquid as well, but refused to allow bid from Canada. Pity, as I think they would have ended up in a museum
BTW I think Choille has been quietly selling away, look fwd to her figures
Stayed out of garden today after a minor back relapse and a night back sleeping in the riser.
CTC, we'll take some of the cuts no one wants (hocks/shoulder), just dont have a lot of freezer space for a half pig.
Dsvesnave, know that whatever you and Mrs Davesnave decide will have been well considered.0 -
Hi all, still plodding along here in North Kent. Outside is pretty much done and it's just little bits indoors, but we probably won't be on the market now until the end of the year. Shame, because something that looked ideal on paper for our next thing is going to auction today and we have no money. Boo hiss.
Oh well. Back to work tomorrow, that'll give me something else to think about as we're coming up to busy period."...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -

To be honest, there's little advantage in marketing now, although it's a good time to be buying! Far better to get in there early next Spring.
(Oh, and it's perfectly normal that the one you really, really want, comes along at just the wrong moment! :rotfl:)
You're right, rhiwfield, we'll not be making any hasty decisions.0 -
YAY !!.......
im finally selling some stuff..........about bl**dy time
i resold the coat that didnt fit me...........lost £20that will teach me...
i had my 3 romanian friends [work on the farm] turn up at T time. they are off home tomorow. brought me a BIG box of F.rocherand a BIG bunch of roses..:D and an invite to go to romania
whilst the old cogs started to turn i asked them if they have furniture/artifacts/lighting etc in the equivilant of our junk shops...;)
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS :T so they are gonna take pics and email me them with prices etc:)
soooooooooooo MAY end up having an adventure after all
i was gonna be witty and say to LIR that famous line from a film ...something like..." yoooo dont wont to go on the moors at nite....." :rotfl: but i cant remember it..:o
Well done on the selling :T
There were warnings not to go on the moors in Hound of the Baskervilles and American Werewolf In London. Recall once walking over the Pennines for a bet, daytime, but then the mists rolled in, couldnt see a thing, all sound muffled, if there had been a howl nearby, I would have c*****d myself
Story in the Guardian on Singapore food sufficiency (or lack of it) and how small urban plots might be part of the answer. Think they might be missing the big picture
Guy back today to finish the heavy work in the garden, I'll be potting strawb plants for new beds and the toms need clearing, though some are still producing and next door's young kids had fun collecting a bowlful at the weekend
Got GDs sleeping over tonight, DW in 7th heaven as she loves kids and gets to see GDs regularly and she's going to stay with DD2 and GSs this weekend while hubby at conference abroad.
In town yesterday someone had put a pristine Lindam stairgate up by the recycling bins, complete with a bag containing fittings. In back of car sharpish, Alf, you need to do some more skip diving0 -
Some nasty stuff on the way next weekend, I believe. I see DW has the fleece ready.
EDIT. Great minds......!!!:rotfl:I haven't stopped wearing mine all year & no, I'm not kidding.

Very true in rural SW, Dave but NW Kent is a bit different as the seasons don't have such a direct effect on the market -other than few people wanting to be moving at Christmas.
In fact, for someone wanting to move from urban to more rural, selling at this end of the year is possibly a good thing as the rural places are more likely to be negotiable on price, I'd think.
Our whole area had no phone, internet or mobile connection for most of yesterday. It caused total chaos in places like shops (no card machines working). Nobody seems to know exactly what the problem was - or they aren't saying if they do know.
Anywhere else it would have made the news but down here the news seldom ventures outside Plymouth & Exeter :rotfl: Maybe there will be something as the news filters through to the cities.
I gather mobiles may still be having a problem. There's no signal here, anyway, so it's just what I've read online.
Should I be thinking "Oh yea *rolleyes*" that today BT is crowing about 2 neighbouring areas having faster broadband from today?
Oh, Itsme, you cynical old soul. :rotfl:To that Providence, my sons, I hereby commend you, and I counsel you by way of caution to forbear from crossing the moor in those dark hours when the powers of evil are exalted
Some hours later ......
:rotfl: Well the news has reached the bright lights of BarneyRubble. By the time the local TV news is on it may have made it 'civilisation'.
Actually, it wasn't funny. The local fire crew took it in turns to man the station knowing that people in the area couldn't dial 999.0 -
look what i got for free:D:DWork to live= not live to work0

An old Regent.
I do mean old, too, as the handles are vertical.
Presumably it's still solid fuel? Boiler or no?0
