Verity is on the news now! Revolting thing! I'm glad the seabirds will carp all over it! LOL

    Yup, she's gone national!

Did you see the old guy who forecasted a harbour flood when her waters break

Round here, you could erect Verity or anything you like, so long as it isn't a wind turbine. Not terribly popular, those.

I hear rumours that someone's building the base for one prior to PP being given.....It will all end in pitchforks and burning hayricks, mark my words!:(

Well, it was a proper sunny day, so we set-to on all the jobs we'd been putting off. Because I was still feeling poorly, DW let me play at bonfires, though that meant cutting the leylandii branches to feed it. They were easier than expected, but I still couldn't finish them all, nor clear the huge pile of stuff from our garden and that of a friend. I found myself burning wet Lawson cypress, which must be 3x smellier than leylandii. Oh, and I had a full dumpy bag of student detritus from Bournemouth to get rid of too. They had their one gardening day just before I visited in the van...:rotfl:

Anyway, while I 'played,' DW cut down the toms in the poly and put them in trays. Then I burned the haulms, which were beginning to look iffy.

So, all is safely gathered in: the toms, the sharks, the onions and the garlic, but the peppers/chillis are still very slow. We have a few ordinary squashes too, but they've been very disappointing this year.

Yes CTC, there should be loads of shark seed for you and for anyone else who wants some. Be warned though, my totally uncontrolled single plant, placed on a soil heap, is now about 40' across!

Pigs can be funny creatures. Some will eat anything while others can be quite fussy. We had one old boar who flatly refused to eat anything except Sow Weaner Nuts :rotfl:
The goats would eat cut foliage (as long as it hadn't been on the floor) but the pigs never showed an interest. The same applied to hay/straw. They'd snuffle around in it, move it about to make a nice bed but never really ate any.

I think Ilfracombe may be under the impression that Verity will bring in the arty & more-money-than-sense brigade. They were under the same impression when Damien H opened his restaurant there years ago.
I have my doubts. Money stays in the posher hotels & country house hotels which Ilfracombe just doesn't provide.
So Verity may pull them in for a quick look but I can't see them staying to spend any money.
They were hoping for a ferry between Ilfracombe & Swansea. I'd lay odds on the fact that, rather than bringing lots of folk from South Wales, it would be North Devon going to Swansea for the city shopping. It would probably be easier to get to than Exeter!
Can you imagine coming into the harbour with Verity waiting for you? Not exactly my idea of a warm welcome :rotfl:
If it's not the gull's idea of a handy superloo I give it a month before it's vandalised, anyway.

I see Poland is having West Country weather ;)

Thanks Davesnave you are a sweetheart:T:T:T

Might start making a compost/ pig poo/bedding heap ready to plant the shark fin things at the ranch next year...

ITSME... yes piggies are funny AND fussy:rotfl: they adore carrots, brocoli, polo mints:cool::D, not keen on apples, but will eat them, hates strawberries, and are partical to doughnuts ( thanks to Alfie:D)..

The bedding ( straw) they have 'chomped' up, but havent eaten any, its like as though they have made their beds..

We feed ours sow and weaner, for 2 reasons, it is the cheapest out of the range. plus people say it doesnt force them to put weight on like rearer's/finishers by being too high in protein.

It happened to our friend who used to breed/rear pekin chickens.. she used ot keep them on chick crumbs until they were more or less fully grown and went straight onto corn, layers... but she decided to try growers, as it was high in protein, it was like forcing them to grow, and they went 'leggy', so she stopped using them, and went back to chick crumbs...

We just used layers pellets along with some corn.

CTC _ I used to enjoy watching the sows doing housework :D
It was fun watching them walking around with mouthfuls of straw moving piles from one place to another. Anyone who thinks pigs are dirty really doesn't know pigs, I think.

Honestly, often my hens have reared clutches in secret feeding them bugs and layers pellets......they have all grown fine and straight.

Of course I prefer to offer crumb, but I do not panic if a hen does a better job than me, it's how it should be.

Horses choosing to hang about on the yard a bit now, despite the less harsh weather. Still plenty of grass about for them, but I think they are ready now for the routine of more bucket feeds.

Bought the insulation base layer today, central heating AND insulation, we will be thoroughly spoiled and soft.

now that we got them, I totally agree..

one side of their ark, is their food, and a mud bath, and then the other part of the piggie paddock they pee and poo..

Good morning :D the weather here is awful, just a constant misty rain so I am continuing with the decorating. At some point I am going to have to clear out and reclaim the potting shed and greenhouse as they became dumping grounds over the summer :o
