It's a possibility. The world is full of them, but many don't develop into anything more. However, thinking things are possible is a a first step to making them more probable. And when things are probable, they're more than likely to happen. It's just knowing when....;)
Put it another way, it's a property!0 -
Everything is crossed for you, CTC. Good luck!lostinrates wrote: »New truss in!
The white thing across the top of the picture is the old truss which the new one has been built to mirror. The old one will be cleaned up then both will be having a light wash. Deciding what wood finish to have was tricy. The old truss is only victorian, and not characterful wood, and does not lok as chunky as it is over head. I thought very seriously about painting all the timber that will be exposed (not much) but feel a wash is a decent copmpromise that will leave character against a painted and newly plastered ceiling.
I think i have also decided not to plaster the internal end wall you can see there but rather to have painted brick. Not that keen on exposed brick colour brick, but painted brick leaves some character....do you think?
I think the best thing if you aren't sure what finish to use is to go for either natural, which we have (there's still bark on much of our old woodwork), or something very easy to remove. Trying to get paint off beams, joists & any in situ wood can be a costly & very messy business.
I'm not sure how much natural light your finished room will have but keeping the brickwork white will always help.0 -

I had always feared it was going to be a rather dim room, but there are still glazed doors to go in on the south side. That picture was taking late yesterday afternoon, there is no west window but the light at the end was from a south window, staying, then there will be french windows next to that.0

Then it sounds like it's really just down to personal choice of finish brick-wise.
You'll be up & down ladders for a few years as the new plaster settles in & the little cracks along the gable ends of the ceiling & walls are tackled. Having everything the same colour up there definitely helps as far as not having to be so careful with cutting in  I think we may have wished open stone or brickwork in that part of the room further. :rotfl:0 -
