Parsnip and apple - makes good use of two things that are going over at the mo?
Yes, we've been testing our apples, and not many are good keepers. We've a few left, but they've become pretty wrinkly, so the hens have been having a couple every day.
We had some rather oversized courgettes until a week or so ago. I didn't fancy them, but the hens had those as well.
I even managed to get the hens to try leeks, but I cooked them first. They loved the garlic that was going over too. A few minutes in the microwave and......oooh I hope it won't taint the eggs! :eek:0 -
I've just finished the last of my parsnips, the PSB hasn't done the sprouting bit, but just all seem to have died, just when they should have been sprouting, no idea what that is.
Still have a few leeks left, squash all turned into soup now, the last of the french beans from the freezer got eaten tonight.
Still have a few bags of dried beans which have been cooked and are in the freezer.
All the tomato passata has gone.
We're all clear and ready to start eating new stuff! Shame I haven't got any in yet
Well I've got Daves toms up as seedlings and some other toms and chillies, but that's it atm.
No rats in GH last night.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

A few parsnips to go but about to sprout.
Some beets
Potatoes still OK
Onions - always have too many but that is OK as the last of them see me through.
Garlic did not do as well last year but loads planted for next year.
Some leeks still in the ground but need to get on with them.
Corn salad, landcress both doing well and have some small onions left in that are sprouting as "chives", although the real thing is now coming up.
Oh and the last of the sprouts (and sprout tops if the bl00dy pigeons keep off) Sprouting Broc will be a while; had to protect that.
And a handful of small cabbages where I cut the stump to get a second growth.
Quite a lot to eat in the next month really!
I am about 3 weeks behind you guys though - sleet and snow last SUnday, hard frost yesterday and feels like it will be another tonight. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
What is it with pigeons and sprouts? They've ruined mine before now0

Aristwaddle oquackis, the gentler of our two male geese and being pounded on atm by J Egg K, is limping so I separated them tonight, at which point Quacky oquackis felt her loyalty torn between her guys (or rather ganders) and ran between them, and Aristwaddle and Egg were kissing over the divide and making plaintinve litte 'mmm' sounds. So they are all back together.0

Hehehehe - Love the names.
I'm just a little worried they may get an identity crisis - quack? Tell them they're descendants of the Honkefellers, too0 -

Haha, they will like that. The geese have incredibly beautiful faces and cold sad eyes. Quackie is so pretty she has a perfect face, like a picture of a goose.0 -

Hope the results are good Alfie.
I didn't do much outdoors today as the weather was pretty bad - massive hail storms.
I have no veg - last year was pretty rubbish garden wise for me - even my usual carrots were finished ages ago & they were not that great & flied.
Spending energy on tackling a land grab thing that is by a tricky dickie - so depressing really.
Oh hum feel jiggered - must be the weather.0
