What is it about digging? I'm all aches & pains tonight from yesterday's trench digging and today's planting of the yew hedge. All the time I've been hedging there's been none of this.:(

Shark fin melons, RAS is very kindly sharing out some seeds he has.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucurbita_ficifolia

They grow huge apparently and are perennial in hot climates where they have no frosts.

Do they cross with the squash family I'd like to know, there seems to be conflicting advice about.

Exmoors are lovely - there's a woman across the Loch that got an award for helping revive the breed. They are very hardy & her's are gorgeous. First & only time I've ever seen them. Funny that.

Well it's blawin a' hoolie. OH just went out to stick a bit of wood behind the straps as the noise & slapping was like some hideous torture - even deaf ole cat looked alarmed.

Just watched a 'doing up an old coach house programme' - the woman made her own kitchen. It was just like the kitchen I want - painted wood & like wot is advertised as 'Bespoke' & costs the price of a semi-detached.

We've been busy but are getting the cladding on & it looks great - well I think it does the Douglas Fir that's from the saw mill up the road. We need another load - twice the amount we've got to finish it. We are about to order another three windas - which is what we can afford at the mo' - Gosh - see this doing it as we gang along......is hard, but don't wish debt - too scared.

Big Black Cockerel is in with his two ladeezs tonight - so that's them settled - hopefully, fingers crossed. Tomorrow - MR & Mrs Teddy get re-housed with a new buff lady Buiscuit & then Hamish goes in with Five Scot Grey ladeeze - lucky Hamish - then Mr & Mrs Lavender can be housed on their own - that's the plan, but sure things will go awry in the morning.

RAS - the egg thing - probably the Supermarkets will import from Phillipines & such & we'll be dragging eggs from across the globe...again & their welfare standards are .......can't bear to think about.
Mayonnaise & cakes & stuff will all be made out of them.

There's a great conference on soon that I've been invited to, but I don't know if I will manage & t'is about food, Europe & crofting - loads of fascinating stuff, but don't know if I can go for the whole event.
Will have to have a think on.

The monitor is actually rocking with the wind............NOT MY WIND CTC - I'll have you know, we don't do things like that in the caravan!

I believe you Choille about the wind;):D

I think the peeps with the 'sharks' should have a comp amongst yourselves.. who got the biggest one? ( that is shark of coarse:D) .....( flip that still sounds bad...lol...)

Maybe it can be the daydream thread annual challenge?

Alfie.. the little saddle and reins sound soooooooooooo cute.... also pitty about the legacy of the chicken guy before you... could you not ask for the terms to be changed? or write down a plan, saying only ex amount of chickens, which will be free range, and any inspection will be approved etc... and the egg selling, would only be the surplus ones so not a commerical venture

    Might be worth a go......

well its pooey weather here, blowing a gale, and raining....

Really do need to get a cat litter tray in the next day or so, as i want to start keeping the cat in again, ( she never used to go out before)..as it isnt going to be long before the clearing and building work for the supermarket is going to start:( and i will bonkers if anything happened to her...

right i think tea and toast is in order, with loads of 'proper' butter melting and dripping off the toast:T ( No wonder i have put loads of weight on and soooooooooo unfit lol)

Great plans rozee!:) You're at that stage already, and here we are, still waiting for the architect to draw what we have now!

OK, I shall be honest and say that we've actually had one set of plans, but we didn't lke 'em. So, we've given them to the new architect with strict instructions: "Don't do this!" :rotfl:
We had a similarish situation - hence the new architect here too. The guy we have now said I can do the shell well within your budget, the first one, after drawing up the site survey, was saying I can tinker within your budget, putting in veluxes rather than anything more significant and suggesting two sets of stairs to get round the issue of buiding regs. It was at this stage that I decided I had to listen to my gut and change as I simply felt our current guy was going to be more cost efficient (as I'd felt all along, but been influenced.... :o) It's a much bigger project structurally than we'd envisaged. We'll get there in the end.
