    CTC ... cool !
somewhere i have a bedroom black iron fireplace.........now i have to think where !!??

ooo ooooo i know where it is ! got a fixed basket innit :D
even if it was only for show and not real if theres no chimney now ? but why would it show from outside if theres an inside chimney breast ? i bet that behind those bricks is a chimney hole which may explain how damp has got in if you follow me ??
  • Alfie..

if you look at the upstairs fireplace, the chimmley goes to the left, and merges with the main chimley ( 3 flu outlets on the chimley stack)

will take a pic of the outside wall of that side tomorrow.

also hacked off some of the concrete/plaster on the window sill ( same room) and the stone is loose, no old lime mortar?????

Spoke to one of the dog walkers, and they said they have never seen any work/tradesmen doing work on the house...

what puzzles me is why they went through to the outside wall ...unless it fell out !! they obviously didnt just brick it up on the inside ..:rotfl: now theres a surprise.

in the words of waynetta.... they sure did do a verry gwand job didnt theys ...;) one know these fings
  • lol:rotfl:

the whole chimley on that wall is brick on the outside too, so do you think the chimleys were added later? or there has been a problem with the outter chimley wall, and they re-done it in brick? maybe in the 1900's?

The fireplaces were def part of the original building/build

    I've been Money Tipped!
I don't think chimney built on the out side means an issue or later addition. I say this as someone who had to suddenly get interested in chimneys in a hurry when the designs were not quite working. ( goodness knows if it will draw though). Being on an outside wall actuall adds ( or doesn't take away) valuable inside feet.
