But of course, capsaicin (in chillies) is now thought to be effective in some cases of arthritis. It's hard to tell for certain because DH's condition is so variable anyway, but after a couple of days with at least one meal a day involving some chilli heat there does appear to be a bit of easing. I haven't tried any "clinical" studies as such, but with a couple of chilli plants outside with plenty coming on them I'm going to experiment a bit on DH when they're ripe. Encona (brand of chilli sauce) used to have a more noticeable effect but the local kebab shop's stuff just gives him bad breath :rotfl:

Maybe I could do with some chilli intake too, but its one of the foods that can trigger off diverticultis problems. Back seized worse this morning, DW just left for the auction so I'm perched uncomfortably by the desktop with a flask of tea, mobile and painkillers. Proper set up for the day :rotfl:
Aaaagh, no biscuits :eek:0 -
Lotus why does the little shop of horrors come to mind:rotfl:

We don't usually have biskwits in. I recognise this makes us an outcast.

Not at all.
We have them, but we are only social biscwiteers and do not usually indulge....although once the packet has been opened....:o
New hens still spend too much time indoors. They didn't 'get' rain at all, but then the lady we bought them from just covered the small cages over at any hint.
It has to be a real downpour before our other hens stop foraging!0 -
Trying those fig cuttings now. We will see. Mean while this fig has a low branch that needs to go too.
How do you divide a fig davesnave? Mine are all single stemmed? A
Beit some have low branches. Would you turn these in to runners?
I like the idea of growing my own figgery!0 -
I can't remember what I did exactly, but the previous owners had the fig planted in the conservatory, in a large corner container built into it & made from breeze blocks (rendered!)
I think they'd planted it too deep, or it had branched out under the soil. but it had more than one set of roots/stems, so I had to break it up as I removed it. I guess this shows runners could work.0 -
Hmm, i moght try to layer a bit then. Interesting idea. Just as is, or rough up a leaf node beore soil contact?0
