When we were looking round some of the examples of various architects work, we saw an example of a kitchen that stright out of John Lewis would have been £15 to £20K and the local kitchen shop had built it for £5 or £6K, so there are possibilities.

The brand new £10K electric Aga that the owner had had put in was the budget blower!

See, nice to have, but a luxury. Lets face it, if you get an oven now thinking you might want an electric aga later, leave a bog enough gap/ buy that size oven!

RAS - Can I get some sharks to sow please?

Rummer - Brambles are easyish if you get the root ball up by using a lever - I use an adze that I got from a charity shop - a flat type of pick. Wear stout gauntlets - I use welders ones & it's great fun & satisfying on a cold day. I've cleared acres & after drying out the fronds make a great bonfire so satisfies the ole arsonist streak - well it does it for me.

Coccsidiousis - some birds have immunity. Chicks are prone to it & there are several strains. They can pick it up from the ground. You can get chick feed that has an anti-coccsidiousis element - I've nagged my Animal Health to stock it. LIR - you'll know all this - sorry to bang on but after having it & knowing how awfully deadly it can be....

Snow on the tops & a crisp cold but glorious day.

Great plans rozee!:) You're at that stage already, and here we are, still waiting for the architect to draw what we have now!

OK, I shall be honest and say that we've actually had one set of plans, but we didn't lke 'em. So, we've given them to the new architect with strict instructions: "Don't do this!" :rotfl:

Very disappointed today. Digger showed up in the field next door and I thought "Joy! Mr Farmer neighbour is going to help us out by clearing the streamside brambles etc. It was only last week he saw me fighting them and asked "How far up are you going?"

But no, it wasn't that. It was Mr Dog's son doing something or other for him, like clearing his bit of ditch. Boo! :(

Meanwhile, we had a look at what our digger driver did last week and concluded he was having a bad day. Put a string line on the trench for the yew hedge and then spent the latter bit of the afternoon straightening it!

Still, the trench is all ready for action now, with muck and bonemeal in the bottom. There's one piece I had to dig by hand anyway, where it passes close to the one hawthorn tree we managed to save.

Also planted our garlic this pm.:o Yeah, I know.....:o Still, the cloves on our own Thermidrome variety are huge!:D

Mystery prevails then, lir? Sometimes you just don't get to the bottom of things, like the healthy Welsummer we had which keeled over and died, and the other one that just faded away.

Vets been and says everyone looks healthy and i said, well yes, but so did the dead ones when they were alive!

Yes we have rats, but not in the feed! In the feed room and in the old automatic feeders(redundant). My feed is kept in bins! I have traps down but no catches yet.

    So....no news really.
What about the poorly one, or have I missed something?

My rats have started eating a bit of the homemade poison, which is great, I await on tenterhooks to see if it works. If it does, I'll give you the recipe.

Electric agas, someone gave me this tip once, if you want (and can afford!) to buy a new one. If you have shares in the company, you get a % off.
It was 10%, but I've no idea if it still stands, or the amount of shares you have to have, or the time limit etc.

She died. :(:( before night fall. The vet took the body back to look at, but have to say that i wish like dave we had an avian vet, the lack of concern or interest was palpable.

    Everyone else still fine.
