Sorry about your hens LIR - you need to know what's causing it - obviously. Could be coccsidiosis [sp?] which I've had & keep stuff for, but you should get their droppings analysed. Which you know.

Hectic day with ebay stuff - caravan looks like it's been ransacked.

Don't feel guilty......chickens are always a risk. Besides, one of mine died on you too.

Let me find out what is wrong here first.....will be heartbreking if i have a nasty here.

Lotus... when we get eggs through the post, we normally keep them in the packaging until the next day... to 'settle' them so to speak,

The vet is goning to pop in and collect a body and have look see at the others later.

Food is fresh.....i get through feed quite quickly, mites may be an issue...i haven 't seen any.......

Boys ate still fine and dandy. They are in a different run now, a small one.

Good, glad you've got it moving this morning. I was thinking more their run being on something they ate, rather than the feed.
But thinking about it, you did say about rats being in your feed bins the other day? Maybe mention it to the vet?

Mites don't kill like that. But you should be able to see them anyway. Go out in the darkness with a torch, in case you didn't know, which I'm sure you did

Anyway, hope you get some answers fast.

Yes, an autopsy is the best thing. At least then the vet should be able to tell you what it is & how best to tackle it.

G'day all....
well my back room is now FULL of bl**dy kitchen units ! thanks son......[apparently thats only half of it ]
if i had mains elec id have had it..meile hob and bosch double oven ...as new ! amazes me when people "change" thier kitchens just cos of the fad look.....

why/how is it that even tho ive fenced off MY bit of the garden ,the chooks "jump ship" like houdini from THIER BIG bit of the garden??? i give up...spoilt !!

ive just cooked 2 lasagne's...one for me and one for a friend calling in later. [shes a nurse and works so hard im sure she doesnt always eat heartily !]shes coming to see the "kitchen"....

if she only wants the cooker etc then i may keep the units and re do my kitchen as it is a poshen!
right ive chopped wood and hoovered so im now off out with the dogs as its a lovely day [cant believe it was sh*t yesterday for the ploughing !! the only BAD day we have had for weeks ! sods law....
