It probably won't be all bad, but we don't expect anything like decent weather here until Monday.
It's the wind I hate. Haven't looked yet, but I'll probably be weighing the squashes & courgettes down again in a minute.0 -
Its so cold!! I didn't think anything would make last summer look good, but by heck, this summer is making last summer look great.
The rain is especially not helping as one of the dogs has come in to season and the other will not be far behind, The relief in summer is i can at least expect to let them be i the garden some of the time and not have to be quite so chained to the mop.
Still chasing the lawn mower company who have said its ready at the end of the week for three weeks in a row (in the end it was not the gear box, thank fully, nor a drive belt, but rather some sort of pulley sopmehow related to the gear box.... A cheaper and supposedly quicker job!)0 -
Ok, officially too grim to go on. Dh is working from home this morning and we have 'one of those' meetings at a bank this afternoon, then i am going to ask him to chainsaw up spme of the old rotton fence posts and i am going to light the stupid woodburner again, using that egg white tip for the rope. I don't care if we die from some sort of fumes from the wood, at least we will not be so blinking cold.0

Middle of summer yesterday and a high of 12C here
Teemed it down all night, wet and windy now
CTC, 7/11, thats good going. I'm 13/77 atm, though a lot of those are new listings, including the stove Alf sent me, listed last night and already 18 watchers, 2 bids and 3 questions! It may well do better than the vintage aircraft clock, which has a shedload of watchers but still only 2 bids. But June to date is sold 15, unsold 3 so that ratio is ok, though sale numbers are down due to DW's enforced visit to her mum and a holiday break.
All this carp weather means we are inside sorting out the stock again, and will be off to the Red Cross this afternoon and two auction houses tomorrow, one to enter unwanted stock into auction, the other to buy some more.
This time last year I was starting to crop toms, reckon thats another 2-3 weeks away unless the weather perks up. Loads of autumn raspberries atm (took RAS's tip) but weather is making them go mouldy. Chooks are enjoying them though. Fruit trees are a real mix this year, pears and greengage a wash out, apples some cropping well, others hopeless. Makes you realise just how weather dependent we are.0 -
It's windy here & quite overcast but mild - I think we've been very lucky here really had it good considering, but it was well needed after such a wet time.
Love a breeze at this time as at least the midgies are kept at bay - they can be horrendous now & quite spoil a Summer especially beautiful still evenings when you can't venture out without a net on.
OH is away at some meetings & trying to get someone to pay their bill - that's becoming the norm I'm afraid & we are getting bank charges left right & centre GRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr0 -
This will be the 5th carp summer in a row here.
I've just looked at the month ahead forecast. It doesn't lift my spirits.:( Cloud, rain & very little sun. May hit the giddy height of low 20s for 2/3 days but with cloud.
St Swithin's, for anyone who places any trust in such things (not sure that I do but keep an open mind) gives ......... rain.
We haven't bothered sowing much this year. A few bits & pieces in raised beds - cut & come again type things - & onions.
Everything was so far behind at sowing time that we decided not to waste the seeds & money.
CTC - I think you need a CPH & Herd number but, as this has all happened since we had our goats, (back in the days when you just bought them & brought them home) I'd do as LIR said, phone up & ask to be sure.
As with most animals, I've seen pygmy goats for sale at vastly differing prices. Of course, it much depends on what you want - entire billies, breeding nannies, weaned kids etc.
We always bought our animals fairly locally so we could see them & have an idea of the way they'd been reared & what the 'farm' health was like.
I'd ask around to see if anyone has them near you, get to know the owners & you may get a better deal ....... particularly for baby billies which are usually cheapest.
Some people have trouble giving males of any animal away. I wonder why?:rotfl:
Pigs should arrive having a movement licence issued to the current owner if things are still the same as they once were.0 -

When they are lit, woodburners generally suck up all the fumes, so you should be OK.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Yeah, but they usually are better sealed too.
I just don't care. I am shaking with cold again. I can cope with the winters with no heating, they are meant to be cold, but the summers, one of the things that got me through winter was the idea of summer. Ad i don't need hot, i don't even like hot, but not cold, warm...i need it.0 -
So do you have a carbon monoxide alarm?....... Sorry I'm a bit paranoid about them, after almost dying myself.
Personally, I'm still in shorts and T-shirts, I declared summer a while ago and I'll be damned if I'm admitting I was wrong.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
