ooooo i loved the GOLDEN horse from azabykhanaran.......or wherever....:D
i missed some cos darling son needed picking up from train.......:(
im going to "gut" my van tomorow..... that is in itself a major task...:eek: but even i have to admit that the blanket of dog hair and the eau-de-pong that accompanies it needs to be got rid.....:D
any ideas on how to grow on from my strawberry tree..?? why is it a tree and not a shrub ? or does it grow huge !!:D0 -
DAVE.....its huge is it !!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Yes, somewhat larger than the photos conveyed anyway. I think it will be just the job for the orchards, but first I have to find a way to get it out of the van.......:rotfl:any ideas on how to grow on from my strawberry tree..?? why is it a tree and not a shrub ? or does it grow huge !!:D
I would go for layering - that's pegging down some low shoots with wire or a stone and burying the 'elbow' under a layer of decent soil. It sometimes helps to wound it a bit. Then, roots grow from the pegged down bit, and eventually you cut it free.
It probably is a shrub, but tree sounds more impressive. It's not a strawberry either!
Back in the village, we made a spirited attempt to finish the food, failed, had a beer & a burger and then nipped out just before Round 15 of the country dancing.....:eek:0 -

Davesnave reminded me i wanted to discuss something with you lot.
Eggs.
The ex batts are laying really well, and the big albeit 'plain' eggs are very useful but.....they are really not good eggs compared to 'ours'. Even the ones who have been here a little while now. The albumen is looser, like a not fresh egg, and even though they eat grass the yolk is paler. Frankly..they do not seem as tadty either, tho
Ugh before now i have never noticed a difference in taste of eggs think that is a bit psychological....
Same diet, same turnout as mine, obviously much better layers. All have been wormed when last lot arrived and they all serm full of health now. Is this a genetic thing? Is something of actual egg quality lost in sone of the hybrids, i have never thought so begore now.....?
Any one else experienced this with modern high perfomance hybrid eggs? I feel like a nut for asking....
I found this

But honestly, these seem in rude health!0 -

Oh dear, I've boobed!:eek: That isn't a strawberry tree at all!
Having looked properly I'm now sure it is a Crinodendron hookerianum, which can be a small tree, but it doesn't produce edible fruit.
Sorry!!!:o:o But it has got an AGM.
Propagation by semi ripe cuttings shoved into light soil in a shady place in the autumn.

Funnily enough, it was the leaves that bothered me, so I checked, and the flowers were all wrong too.0 -

Well,at least alfie didn't eat the fruit yet!:eek::eek:0 -
I have no experience with hybrid hens, but I wonder if the ex-batts, although in good health, are still unable to capitalise fully on their free-range environment. They were bred for circumstances unlike those they are in now, so in some ways their bodies aren't quite in tune with the outdoor life.
The above is probably just waffle!!!0 -
Alfie, you are such a sweet heart thank you for the offer, but i have found a place on-line ( didnt have it on ebay)
Well i have just won a load of furniture on ebay:T
a dresser, table 4 chairs, a cabinet and a nest of tables, all painted up, for £62:beer:
I was watching it before and forgot to bid ( starting bid then was £100,) no one bid, so they re-listed it with a starting bid of 99p or a bin for £100... so i took the gamble...
its not to everyone's taste, but i like it

Just got to store it now for the new place:eek::DWork to live= not live to work0 -

I was bidding on an entire kitchen earlier today. It might have been good enough to do our new utility when its built, but we need the double oven it contained right now.
However, while I was out the bidding went upwards rapidly, so thinking about our dampish storage in the barn, I let it go.0 -

can be made into jam and preserves[2]. There is also a number of alcoholic drinks made from the fruit like Portugese modrono or brandymel. The japanese also soak the fruit in sake to add flavour. :rotfl::rotfl:
or am i supposed to be reading the propogation bits....:p
p.s. uuummmmm! those pics arent my plant me finks..unless the fruit forms in side the flower ? but mine dangle a good 3" from branch/leaves ???
