I know what you mean about the privacy side, LIR. The domain name may not be necessary.
There are free forum downloads (I've just Googled :o) like phpBB.
Now, I know absolutely nothing about them so we'd all need to do a bit of research to find out what people think of them & which would be best to use.

I haven't done any website building for a few years so I'm behind the times (own up - who said "as with everything else"?:rotfl:) but, if there's anyone else here who would be willing to share the load of set up & running, I'm happy to give it a go once we've decided which would be best.

Or, if you really want to make life easy, we could try Skype straight off. If anyone isn't happy with it it's a simple case of un-installing. We could keep the same usernames as here but I think that, as friends, our email address would be seen by those we allow contact. I'm not sure that can be overcome but it's always possible to have a specific email just for the Skype account, I guess.

Maybe let's see how things pan out over the next few months.

If they start issuing junk, data mining, then time to move on.

I'd say that was good news for others too! :D

Not much to report here. Ozzie, our cockerel will be leaving us; not because he got stroppy the other day, but because we've no plans to do any breeding of Australorps in the near future. He is way too heavy for our other breeds, who are looking rather sorry for themselves after his attentions. Unfortunately, the only hens he doesn't really fancy are the Australorps! :rotfl:

I'm hoping to win the mower today, provided the price doesn't go much higher. Trouble is, I've also got an entire kitchen on watch, which is due to end around the same time, I'm due to be measured for a wedding suit and there's a few other shenanigans going on this weekend too, I believe.

I don't do FB and I'm never going to.

Quick, set up a facebook group! :rotfl:

    Me neither.....I think!

I have no particular thoughts over the sell-out. I'd like us to stay here if possible, because the thread is acessible to many thousands of people, which is best for getting new people on board.

I have a parked domain name. I thought it was so good someone would want to buy it.....and they did, but they got around the problem by adding 'Shropshire' to the end of it. Cheapskates! What's the point of having a slick domain name and then sticking a long county name on the end of it? I mean, who would consider Virginceredigion.com or Yahoobuckinghamshire.co.uk ? :(

    Hi All,

Thanks for the link Rhiwie:beer: lets hope it does come through..they have you all blooody ways,

Sorry I want here yesturday, but i have been over in the arms alot, reading the replies to Martin's Sell-out..

TBH it felt like he has sold his family down the river so to speak, as most of the articles in his news letters are what mser's have found and posted etc, so we are doing half the work for him.

Even though I absolutely love this site, and I would say 80% of my internet time is spent on mse, and with the news yesturday it has unsettled me, and now i am going to be VERY carefull in what i post, as the website/forum rules are he owns anything that we write, so basically you could come up with an ingenius idea, write it on here, and wall-up he owns it... or that has been done take snippets and ideas from here and made books out of them, and gleened the money...

As one article refered to us as the cash cows:eek:

There are lots of rummblings around the boards about this, and lots of people have unsubscribed to the news letter, they also are a but dubious about what he writes in his articles, and the links he supplies.... a few people have also mentioned breaking away and doing a new forum.. but we have mentioned this before all this blew up..

Right off to have another cuppa, and a root around the internet regarding setting up a good forum( sure i registered a free one before)

I finally got round to uploading the Chelsea photos to Flickr. It was only when uploading that I noticed in one photo there's someone wearing the same jacket as me! :rotfl:

Chelsea Flower Show and our garden too 069 by ukmaggie45, on Flickr

We ordered an archway from Harrod Horticultural while we were at Chelsea, got a discount that paid for my ticket. :) It arrived on Thursday, in 4 packages that weigh a ton... OH has had a look at the assembly instructions and says it looks pretty clear and easy enough. I think we'll need help actually placing it though as it will be very heavy once it's assembled. Now have to decide exactly where it will go, and do some weeding! It came with a DVD on how to assemble it too, but haven't had time to watch it yet.

Finally got round to planting the lily bulbs I got at Chelsea yesterday. Still have a load of peas and beans to get in the ground, plus morning glories and nasturtiums. It's quite grey and a bit misty today, so provided the rain holds off it'll be pleasant in the garden. Yesterday despite the poor forecast we had hot sun all day! It's been mizzling a bit this morning, but may be able to get out later.

Oh, we bought some oriental poppies the other day when we went out to get compost, so they need planting too. Know roughly where I want them, but it will need weeding first! Whole garden needs weeding really, and so does the front one.

Very shattered today - we went out for the evening on Thursday, meal out and then concert at the Philharmonic Hall - Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. So maybe a bit of gentle seed sowing is in order rather than weed pulling - will get OH onto that when he gets back from visiting his mum. ;) Was amazed by the carnivorous plants in the Grand Pavilion, so indulged in some venus fly trap and pitcher plant seeds and a booklet on how to grow them. Also visited Jekka's Herb Farm stand and bought half a dozen packets of seed there:
    Heartsease
    Viper's Bugloss
    Bergamot Wild
    Catnip
    Chinese Garlic Chives
    Fennel

Will have to be a busy little bee over the next few weeks!

today has been overcast but very warm with a slight breeze.

having consulted LIR i have brought in flo and dora, its more for dora as she seems to be struggling even tho she's on hardly any grass. so flo got roped in for company even tho her feet are much better now. they are on a deep deep bed of sawdust/shavings so will have to see. dora's the one that has funny legs anyway as we had em xrayed by vet so that doesnt help her, poor gal..:(

p.s. iv just nearly flooded my bathroom....again ! i forgot my bath was running.....:o
