Thought of CTC when I saw this one:

Plenty of work here, though it looks basically sound. But seriously, what planet are they on with that price?
I like photo 14. No more of them for a while!0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T:TAhhhh you know what i like too well...lol...
Yep that is right up my street, would def keep those cupbaords in the kitchen..
and what is it with ols upright pianos in old houses? we have one in our place exactly the same.
ALFIE dont worry we are not knocking any walls down, just taking off the old concret ( used under the layer of plaster) and the plaster off the walls.. to expose the bare stone/brick.
Choille its really strange as the coal like dust is only in a small section of one wall??? also the dividing wall between the 2 cottages ( middle of the house) has rising damp, and flip knows what they used, as beofre the concreted/plastered the walls they put some sort of screening ( to about a foot high of the floor) and it was really rock hard??? all gone now though..
Had all our passes etc through for next weekend's show in builth.. they normally send us 3 passes ( due to the size of stall we have) but they have only sent us 2:mad:We normally lend ours out to a friend so their daughter can go on that day to help them and on the next day they lend us their spare one so both parents can come up and mann the stall for a bit ( well 10 minutes) so we can have a break together, to have a quick run around to certain stalls...Will give them a ring and see what is happening ( hope they havent cut back)
Still piddling it down here...:oWork to live= not live to work0 -
Congrats Mr Rhywie the Younger!
Alfie,
Am over run with beans in kitchen and utility! Just wish it would warm up enough to get them out. Too cold to even feel it worthwhile trying to harden them off yet. Must try to get some more peas started too.
Yesterday had a perfectly dreadful day, cold and wet. Made worse by being incredibly tired after OH had spent the whole night waking me up every half hour or so snoring.Even had to ring up and cancel my counselling session. Was so tired ended up in bed asleep by 8pm! OH is now sleeping in the guest room!
The garlic seems to be enjoying all of the rain, it's about 2'6" tall, and looks like the stems are swelling nicely. Yum!We need a couple of dryish days to water in our second lot of NemaSlug. Just hope we get some next week as have to get a lot of stuff boxed off before we go off to Chelsea. Just hope the weather improves by then as it will be horrible trundling round in wheelchair if it's p*ssing down.
Off to pot on some tomatoes now, planted too late I'm sure, but it's been so damn cold am glad didn't plant them sooner! Oh, courgettes showing too.0 -
Maggie, i am tired this week too. The weather doesn't help at all, and The frustration. I darte nopt go and get on my hands and knees to garden, incase i cannot get back up, its too cold and wet to get stuck out there for a while, on a nice day i don't mind as i can relax until able, lol.0

the mystery of the coal dusted wall is solved ( well we have a good possibility..) it was originally the under stairs cupboard.. of one of the cottages.. and they must have kept their stash of coal in there:D
Council rates dept came out to inspect that the house was not being lived in:mad: bleep..bleeping jobs worth.... said as there was more than one item of furniture in each room, it was not classed as empty:eek: regardless on the state of the place... etc.. so i am fuming as even though i have booked another appointment for them to come out , which isnt until the end of may i have to pay the rates on the place ... I did say i would distroy every bit of furniture in ffront of her... nope that was no good... and they will not back date the council rebate ....
I am seriously thinking.. this house wasnt ment to be...:o every week since we won the property.. i have had poo... bad things def DONT come in three's. may be 33's or 333's but not 3's:rotfl:.Work to live= not live to work0 -

My sense of humour has often got me into trouble but has also got me into places most people could only ever dream of going so it sort of evens itself outIt won't grow that tall, because I'll be harvesting it for feed in the summer months. My mature plants are up to about 2' now and just ready for a first cut. The bank needs to be covered with something, so my solution was comfrey, since nothing can compete with it. DW will still need to weed her geranium bit!
Sneaky. Clever but sneaky :rotfl:Thought of CTC when I saw this one:

Yes, the price does seem a bit ambitious for somewhere that needs that much work & only has an acre. Maybe the vendors were hoping the Big House would buy it back as another s/c?COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »and what is it with ols upright pianos in old houses? we have one in our place exactly the same.
They're too bl**dy heavy to move & hardly anybody wants a piano these days. :rotfl:COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »ALFIE dont worry we are not knocking any walls down, just taking off the old concret ( used under the layer of plaster) and the plaster off the walls.. to expose the bare stone/brick.
Be careful that it isn't the plaster that's holding the wall together, CTC. Seriously. If the mortar has gone the plaster & good luck may be all that's keeping the stones vertical.0 -
Re pianos, we are getting my childhood one back, a small upright which really needs to be restrung to ve intune with anything other than itself, but while i do not want not. To have it when we have room we would like a baby grand.....dreaming away, the upright plinking out of tune will have to suffice!0

Welcome to the world of the local CT jobsworths
Don't get disheartened, though, CTC.
It is par for the course, unfortunately. It will probably all seem one step forward & two back for quite a while yet but you have to keep the final target in mind.:D0 -

My sympathies - we have a client whose house suffered horrendous water damage - ceilings down etc - a gut job basically - they can't get out of paying council tax but defo not habitable & that's obvious to anyone.
Ahhhh, the coal shed, we lived in a cottage & the bath was blocked. I plunged it & bits of coal came up the plug hole........
Some companies will come out free & see about the rising damp & what needs doing as it would seem it's a prob in that wall. They would give you a quote.0 -
The winds that freezing here although dry that some trees look burnt with the salty Easterly I guess.
Even the hens seem to be slowing up on the lay.
Some crofters are saying it's their worst lambing ever - so glad we aren't having any this year...again!
Going to hap up & try & get some weeding done this afternoon as it won't do itself unfortunatley. Things are getting leggy in the trays but too cold to go out even if I was weedfree!
Note to self, 'Stop using exclamation marks!'0
