Another one here. Off to see my son play in a footie tournament for the first time. His little eyes lit up when I told him me and the twins were coming along. Footie is usually after school, so Dad normally takes him and we stay home.

Tomorrow the move up the hill starts in earnest. The fencing is almost complete and our tenancy runs out at the end of the month.

LIR, I haven't forgotten your PM. Things are a bit hectic, as DS1 is in hospital and its not going quite to plan.

LUCEILLE.... hope every thing is ok with DS....

Well went to the hosue yesturday, and there was a hand written note from the coucil ' footpath officer' saying htey wanted to speak to me regarding the footpath and our access? with a question mark after access..

My head is all over the place ( again) hope it is something over nothing, or if some sly walker is starting to be awkward after only having the keys just over a month I will start being awkward... by putting a gate up at the beginning of our land with a style sp in it, which even though legal some booger will complain...

Does anyone know the legal min width required for a footpath?
as hubby and were talking yesturday that if someone is being awkward.. then we will fence the footpath to within a mm of the legal requirement, so then they will not be able to see the beautifull trees etc each side of the path...

our boys and hteir friends camped up there last night, hubby stayed there too in the caravan to oversee things I bet they frooze their butts off:rotfl:

and the best news i have had in a long time..

    Our chicks are hatching:T:T:T:T

pekins. vorwicks, and wellsummers, but there is a bit of confusion, as hubby think we bought light sussex...lol... what ever they are... we will eventually find out:D

oooo ye we have frogs in the new garden too:D

    Just found this link

    http://www.ramblers.org.uk/info/britain/footpathlaw

If i have read the section properly, does this mean its the council that has got to maintain the footpath?

Cottoneye jojo is sitting on some of alfie's eggs, but other than that no plans. Thing is, npif we can have builders start soon then the electricity risks being off, which, and they would probably hatch in time, as no builder appointed yet, the lamps would probably still be on, so probably a bad move, i so badly want guinea fowl this year, and dh wants a couple of millefleur pekin bantams to pop in with cotton eye jojo. He thinks they are the most beautiful things he has ever seen.

We are both hobbling so have decided to continue a 'me' job, of weeding out around those poor choking pear trees and roses and maybe popping some weed membrane down to make it a less regular job. Then i might even try and sort out a pot of decent exterior paint and get the wall there painted on the next dry week day. That way we are ready after the builders have been in to do some thing proper out there in autumn. If we get some of it done i might stick up a pic later.

Council has to maintain the surface of the footpath, CTC, and landowners just have to make sure there are no overhanging branches etc in the way. Walkers themselves, if it's well -used will keep the lower stuff clear.

In reality, paths have to get pretty bad before councils bother their bums about the surface. Put it this way, I have had mud go over my wellies on a Carmarthenshire footpath! I did complain, and they just said there were so many they couldn't look after them all equally well.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions about the note. If it was really important, it wouldn't have been hastily hand-written.

thanks Dave, we try and keep clear any over hanging branches. the only way they will be in the way, if someone is 8ft..lol..

When we had that seriously bad weather, yes when we were going up some branches had bent right down, which we cleared/cut back... we cant be watching 24/7, but we are up there most days..

My main concern is they mentioned our access with a question mark next to it..

Again today someone was using the lane ( not ours) to put hteir caravan in their garden, and came down and turned around on our land:mad:, so we are def going to put a gate up, with provisions of a sty/ or some sort of opening, only suitable for walking through...

Also had a walkers done in our house this morning, so i was polite, and told them in a few months there will be livestock on the land, and hten all dogs will have to be on a lead... also need to tackle to dog poo that htey dont clean up:mad:

right i think a cuppa and a nice fox's biscwit is in order
