so they will phone me the day before they are being delivered... so it will be the end of the week or the early part of next week..
Going to see if i can find a eggs for sale template poster on line... and see if i can put some up in newsagents etc... ( and outside the new house etc)

You also have to display a "Best Before" date. A "Best Before 3 weeks from the Date of Purchase" sign will cover the law.
The eggs must be clean but not washed.
If you take any eggs to, for example, a market to sell then you must also comply with several more laws including having a Producer Number (still free AFAIK from the Egg Marketing Inspectorate) which states what type of production you use - organic, free range etc.
Weak sunshine this morning. Yes, the swallow are here, Maybe they've been roosting up in the outbuildings waiting for the sun to appear?
Yes if the weather is dry and the hens decide to not walk on a recent poo someone has dropped in the way, but otherwise..... I don't get it.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Duly checked.:A Blimey, we could put another 65 in there and still comply, no problem!
We won't though.
Edit: As for clean and fresh etc, most of ours are clean enough to sell "au naturelle," although the odd one might get a little wipe, and we date each egg so that folks can see exactly when they were laid. We even weigh the boxes so the contents are pretty similar, although mixed sizes.
I get all the cracked ones, of course!0 -

Half the art of a clean free range egg is, indeed, in where they lay themYou can wipe them over but not actually wash them. Unless they've laid somewhere really carppy, they should come up OK, particularly if you use sand on the floor of the henhouse.

I've had a seriously peculiar, up & down day.
As I said in an earlier post, having run out of oil (just in time for a bl**dy cold weekend) the tanker arrived today .........:j
However, have spent most of the day trying to get an airlock out of the oil line to the Rayburn & still haven't quite beaten it. The oil is filling the burners but, obviously, not quick enough to keep up with a burn. So, I smell like I've been swimming in the oil tank & will have to have the thing to bits again tomorrow .......
A delivery came today from a company ........... I haven't ordered anything from them for about 3-4 years. So I rang them up. "Oh, sorry, our mistake, someone has obviously mis-entered the customer number. Our mistake. Please keep the stuff" ...... so another bit of a :j moment.
If I could only have got the ruddy Rayburn going it would have been a pretty good day :rotfl:0 -
Hope everyone's well - seem to have been busy, but not got much done IYKWIM0

Omg, weather.
Been up since just before four, bringing in those horses, who, it turns out, were right not to want out0 -
LIR.. animals seem to have some sort of sixth sense....lol..
We had some bad spells throughout the night, and yes typical the dog wanted to go out umpteem times last night, so in the end i just left the door open most of the night, and frooze on the sofa... ( still sleeping on the sofa:o) so i could hear the full force of the rain... still raining here, but not as hard.
LIR have sold some bits on ebay, but havent had a chance to do many listings, but really do need to get listing, and put books on amazon for work, as cashflow is VERY tight now..:(
Also need to start getting stuff ready sell for the smallholders show in builth wells, as that is only 3 weeks away:eek:Work to live= not live to work0
