Thanks rhiwfield. I always have your trees in mind when looking at mind, you are my fruit tree muse .
. I love those little terraces of colour and texture, beautiful.
I, much to my horror, have not pruned roses this year. The good old peter belae forum suggested not pruning new or recently moves roses, which of course all ours are. last year the roses moved from the last place looked....not quite grim, but certainly not happy, and even thr roses first planted here compained, the weather was not to their liking. This year, already they look so much better. Most did not defoliate over winter, so have had a bit of a head start depsite the turn its taken. Lots have buds on but i think i know who amoung them will win the race.0 -
Lir, I cut off a fully trained side branch on my pears last year, and have had to do a crossover. Whats worse its on the roadside, so my mistake is all to apparent to any passers by
Saw your brief post last night, hope some more of the "strays" made it back.
Pruned my roses a few weeks back so no buds yet. 2 years back I interplanted chives as a natural fungicide and here's the result. This is DW's garden, outside the bay window, stepped in 4 levels (top level beech hedge, then 2 rose beds, then edging beds of bugle, with steps and paths for access. Hoping that the beech hedge will mature enough this year to improve privacy at ground floor level.
Bit more work in the garden this morning, just starting to look a bit better.
:T Garden is looking good, rhiw.
Years ago I also planted chives around our apple trees under the same, companion planting, principle. They seemed to work well together ....... as far as I could tell.:D
Yipee!! I spy an oil tanker creeping down the lane0 -
I do really, really miss being around horses as they are so calming and I could do with a whole load of calm atm
Hahahaha.....i shall remember than in an hour or so when i put mine out for the night. They really do not want to go out these days since the weather got grim. they prefer being inside, big hay nets, easy life.....:D0 -
Went to the local auction house to have a look. Two things i like, but cannot go on auction day, already busy, and in any case, no money
I was amazed at the rubbish people are selling, lots more junk than good stuff.0 -
Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.
TBH, I know we're not the only ones around here doing this, and everything's pretty relaxed in this area, but of course if we are tackled, we know nothing!
Sorry about your burglary, LIR. Couldn't post last night as iPhone had forgotten my password.
Alf, loved your poem.0 -

the other fair organiser is Judy's vintage affordable fairs, and they do them in Bristol twice a year....
Flip got to go my potatoes are boiling over... treating ourselves to a beef dinner tonight..... i have allready 'tested' the beef:DWork to live= not live to work0 -

Will you be doing the brizzle ones then? If so even if no pork maybe we could wander up, maybe alfie will be able to as well, we can whoop and squark and every one will think we are excited about what you are selling and over pay for stuff!
And of course pigs aren't ready over night, i am thinking ahead for the freezer:D0 -

As predicted, lots of arm flapping trotting around avoiding going out, then, we have to walk through their favourite patch ( which is very rich but short and somewhat poached grass, but mainly weed, i do not know why they love it so!) it to the summer patch of grass, which is terrible insufficient they assure me!;)0 -
