I'm bowing deeply in your direction, very impressed!
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: join the que rhiwi .... iv been singing itsme's praises with her super speed investigations..
i was having a conversation with a dealer the other day who was trying to get info on an object and i haughtily said "oh ,you need to get your self a personal investigator like i have".... he [very seriously] said "really, can i get one ?" .... :rotfl::rotfl: yes, BUT NOT OURS !!0 -

The uniform looks very like a FANY officer, rhiw. They existed pre-WW1 but the cap seems more like their WW2 ones than the things they wore in WW1.
I found this photo - the officer signing the chit not the lass with the pudding bowl on her head riding the bike

If you can get me a good deal, alfie, I'd consider it. I could always do his as the day job & still enjoy a bit on the side0 -

Hmmm . Tomorrow night I'll post piccies of her relatives and ask for a fashion dating, Itsme has confirmed my doubts on WWI vs WWII. I'd thought the Rd No dating should clinch it for WWI but the velox paper, thgough invented pre 1900, is generally associated with 40s+ if printed on paper. Lot of fuss about nowt for an item thats worth a few quid, just like to get it right0 -
Thanks rhiwie.. good advice about damping down the asbestos.. will make sure i take my pump spray up with me....
Funny enough hubby has got to call into Andrew's on friday...
As they say we live and learn, so hopefully you will not lose to much on this batch of stuff ( you never know you might be suprised and make a bob or two)
hope your back gets better, and doesnt go awol again..
Apple trees? talking to a neighbour, he told me that he gave the previous owner an apple tree, as it went too big for his garden, he said he must have bought it in the 70's, and cant remember what flavour/variety it is, it has never fruited.... so i presume it needed another one to cross-polinate? yes?
sooooooooooo the dilema is, how do i find out what apple tree to buy so it can polinate to produce apples?
Is there a way ( or a firm) that can find out the variety just by sending them a branch with leaves on? or is that a silly question:DWork to live= not live to work0 -

Once upon a time the RHS would have done it or possibly Brogdale (the National Fruit Collection) but I'm fairly certain that the RHS has stopped doing it by post & Brogdale will want fruit samples which you can't provide. It may still be worth dropping Brogdale an email just to ask their advice on how to go about identifying a non-fruiting apple.
Of course, Wales may have an equivalent but, if so, I don't know what it is, sorry.0 -
