    Welcome abitofhelp :hello:

We're a motley bunch of souls from every stage of the 'dream'. Some are still dreaming, some are currently trying to make the dream work as a reality & some old miscreants (well, at least one I can think of ;) ) who have done it but now have dreams in other directions :D

Don't believe that crazy woman above me, abitofhelp, I'm the sane one here ;)

Well, I think the truth is, we're all a little crazy in order to be or want to be here. We're definately not mainstream....

I've very recently bought with my OH 5ish acres in West Wales. The bungalow needs totally doing up in order for our family (five year old and two year old twins) to live there comfortably and the land has been well cared for but neglected for the last few years as the old man who owne it was very old. We bought it at auction

have to dash as it's bedtime - but welcome. We're a friendly old crowd.

My update is that we've grass seeded the banks of the static's hardstanding. I'm now having sleepless nights about what nasties OH has imported in the hedgerow soil that he used....

We have had a change of plan where the pigs are going to go first.... since thursday there has been a new area of knotweed sprout up:mad: this is where we were thinking of eventually doing more raised beds etc

    CTC

Having retrieved an area from total infestation with JK please let it grow to its full height this summer - read this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3159838 which has a link.

We found it much easier and massively more effective to clear JK when we could inject large stems than dealing with smaller growth.

What you might want to do is remove any old dry stems now and burn them. Then let the stuf grow until August.

I have a neighbour who insists on pulling it up each year. So there is no grow to treat properly and it resprouts every year. Yet the area of major infestation is clear.

Rained all day - incredibly heavy - water coming in the house. Really want the roof finished but that'll be a while - so been putting buckets all over the place.
It's been a good day to try and list stuff but that's gone dead, slow & stop - the planets aint aligned!8*>?' Or some such thing.

    Oh...

I was going to suggest that if you could board out a small space, even old shuttering, maybe you could have somewhere to dry clothes, hang out stuff to photo, put a trestle table so you could sort things out?

    Oh well.

Hope the roof os weather proof soon choille.

CTC, bakestone might make £20 on a buy it now, doulton pot is pre Royal Doulton, maybe a tenner?

Abitof help, welcome! I've got a smallish garden too by this thread's standards, but there's a lot crammed into it, including chooks :)

I used to be sane until I started reading Alfie's posts!!

Hello, abitofhelp and welcome to the [STRIKE]Nightmar..[/STRIKE] Daydream thread.

I'm certainly not the sane one here, as only a few years ago I was just like you: living in a semi-dee, more or less solvent and keeping almost normal hours. Our house & garden were both pretty much up-together and I could take a day off whenever I liked. :D

Now, somehow, DW & I have 5+ acres in Devon and a rather tatty bungalow, which if the money runs to it, will turn into a house next year. If that happens we shall have to live in a portacabin for 6 months, but believe me, on this thread that's nothing. ;)
