  • Yay!! :j :j :j :j:j
Hitting the £900 would be great, go for it!!!
I get a real sense of satisfaction every time I hit another 100 mark - on the way down!! It really makes you feel like you're getting somewhere.

£85 paid of cc yippee! Down to a nice rounded £900! lol! Anyways I'm going to aim for £100 per month payment gulp! Would love to make the last payment in May along with the last of my sofa payment but don't think I could manage £125 but at least it's going down :)

Not too much else to report. DS had his birthday party managed to convince him to put some of his birthday money into his bank account instead of squandering it on yet more toys he will play with for 5 minutes! He had a great day, we do birthday parties up until 10 so he only has one more to go we then just do a small family dinner.

School expenses haven't been too bad a few book fares and discos coming up but nothing to expensive.

Hope everyone in MSE world is doing well and being very MSE. I'm loving watching Martin Lewis' show and trying to pick up a few more tips!
  • Wow!! that's great - getting the cc down to £900.
    Well done!

The £100 per month would make me gulp too but like you I'd love the thought of having them both gone before you get to holiday time!!

Know you can do it - and if things get too tight, know you can undo it too!!

Sometimes slow and steady wins the race - and we learn more from it than a speedy bounce back.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

At least we're over half way through the month sigh.... feeling a little deflated about stuff at the minute. OH used his cc to put some stuff on, not really sure for what to be honest just wonder whats the point of me trying to get my cc paid when it doesn't bother OH to put things on his! I know his is 0% for another year so no interest at least but I really do wonder what the point is sometimes!

As well as that its been an endless week of £1 for this for school £2 for this £5 for that.. and two birthday parties at the weekend along with a night at a friends house to add in as well there's times I wish I could just lock the front door and not go out at all! I know I'm sounding a bit sorry for myself at the minute just having a rubbish few days (I won't even mention my horrendous boss grrrr ).

Anyways onwards & upwards, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger and all that ! On an MSE side of things I did a Mr Ts online order so will get a £20 off code for a £40 shop for next week so that should help :)

Going to check online banking think I might have to prise my fingers away from my eyes!!!
  • Hi Mamato3,
You sound as deflated as I feel. It gets to a stage where it all feels so much like hard work doesn't it.
I understand what you mean when you talk about your OH using the cc when you're trying to get rid of yours. Isn't that where we all started? Using a cc and not thinking anything of it.

It can be disheartening but maybe you could do what I do when I get disheartened and want it all to be done with now, which is go back and read your diary from the start. I find it helps me see that I have made progress and to pick up on things I said I'd do but haven't yet or to see again some great advice I've been given by people on this forum and remind myself that I either haven't done it yet or have only half attempted it.

Although I've reduced my grocery bill a lot since coming on here I am aware I followed a meal plan for a fortnight and then went on as before. I also have stopped keeping a spending diary - it's amazing how much I can let things slip when I know these things help. Coming on here regularly even if I don't post has really been helping me. It keeps bringing me back to being accountable to myself. So I know what to do - I just need to keep on doing it.

Be gentle with yourself and have some time out - just a no spend or low spend time out - and then come back in a few days/hours/weeks with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective.

Am off to follow my own advice :D

Thank you for your kind words Fanstiyk - I have so much to be thankful for healthy children, a lovely home and most of the time a pretty great husband! I just want the debt to go over night which just isn't going to happen! Considering it's been an expensive year with holiday, back to school fees and having to change the car I guess we aren't doing too bad :)

Nothing else to do but just suck it up and get on with it! Thank you again they're much appreciated :)

Well cc is now at £938.40 :( I know its a small amount its gone up by but its still up! However I will pay it off asap so I'm not too concerned. I will be at the max of the overdraft which is a concern we seem to be stll crawling back from having to get the car last month! Gift total will probably be about £900 by the end of the year which is frightening especially as most things if not all have been bought with codes or been in the sale, I dread to think what we've spent previous years! Still not sure what hubbys is sitting at will check on Wednesday when pay day finally arrives yippee!!!
  • Hi Mamato3,
    How are things with you?

I just popped over to have a quick look when I was updating my own diary.

CCs are the bane of our lives, aren't they? We think we can't live without them and yet we want to be able to. And then we go and spend on them again!!

When I get mine paid off and the overdraft is gone also, I am going to continue to save and when I get an emergency pot of about £500 minimum saved I'm going to cut up one of ours and reduce the limit on the other to £500 for dire emergencies. Then I will keep adding to the emergency pot, a little every month the same as I'll be doing for all our other outgoings. Well that's the fairytale ending, anyway!!

I hope things are going good and that you're all ready for Christmas - it's so exciting for the little ones, isn't it.

Hey Fantastiyk - thanks for stopping by :) feeling pretty rubbish at the minute about our money situation. I put some bits on my cc for xmas so I'm pretty annoyed at myself for doing it and also for giving hubby a hard time over his! I sill have a few more bits to organise and not really sure where the moneys coming from for them! A rather large bit of me wants to just not even look at numbers until after xmas the other half is very loudly screaming "put the plastic down!". I feel all my hard work has been for nothing. :(

After that little depressing rant yes the little guy is v.excited which is lovely and I am looking forward to xmas I just wish it didnt come with so much worry!

On a good note I've done very well on my meal plans and my shopping bill is around £120 so far for the month thanks to doubling up Mr Ts vouchers on frozen food. I've also applied for a local job more hours, more money, less travel. Sounds good so fingers crossed!.

Hopefully my next post will be more up beat!
