Morning all, haven't been on in a while as really there hasn't been to much to report. Kids start back to school in a week :j hopefully then I will be able to get into some sort of routine re meal planning and shopping and just generally looking forward to getting my house back! All uniforms are bought, labelled and turned up (where needed) so we're good to go :j

Money side of things is looking a bit tight at the minute had to delve into the £ a day tin which had £60 in it :) so that will help us out until payday at the end of the week. Still nothing sorted out re a car for hubby I think we're going today to have a look round.

Have also just added another £30 onto the gift total and will have to add another £10 on after this weekend. I can't believe we spend so much on gifts and thats not even including any Christmas gifts yet!

Credit Card is down to £1050 hadn't realised I hadn't updated that either!

Feeling a bit yucky this week which is getting me down a bit - I'd hoped to get a bit longer than 4 months after the surgery to start feeling like this again :( I think a trip back to the Consultant could be in order ...sigh.. anyways hope everyones having a good week.

    Hi Mamato3,
Sorry to hear you've not been the best, take things easy and rest a lot, it helps in the long run.

The car saga is a pain, and they're getting so expensive to run. We've been housebound most of the summer as its too expensive to go far.

I see money is tight with you too at the moment. I think its a combination of kids being off and trying to buy uniforms etc.

I hope things pick up for you soon, health and money wise.

Hi Fantastiyk, it was good to hear from you! I was getting worried when you hadn't posted in a while - I guess like me you're just having a slow month money wise. I have had to pull together most of my little pots to cover things so they are mostly empty now! I feel like its two steps forward and about three back sometimes! Although, I know I've been a bit frivilous this month and once again my spending diary has got a little forgotten!

The boys start back to school Tuesday and DD is Thursday (I feel like doing a happy dance :)) August has been a looonnnnggg month!

The nasty cold has finally eased of thank goodness so feeling much better:) The sun has at last come out today so lots of washing will be done! Although, you can already feel a chill in the air it really feels like Autumns only round the corner.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunny Sunday :)

Another £11 added onto the gift total - those £10 or £11 fairly add up! £400 already spent on gifts!

I went to collect my little guy from his first day at nursery today and unlike the kids that were crying because their mums weren't there yet, mine was crying because I was! He asked could I go home and come back later! He loved it and can't wait for tomorrow which is great, my middle ds cried every single morning so this will make a nice change :)

Not much to report on the money side of things it's not payday until the end of the week so can't do much until then. OH thinks we should now change my car and also get a car for him grrr .. sometimes I wonder if we really do breathe the same air ... needless to say I'm trying to quash that little thought before it grows!

Electricity bill came in at £60 for two months which is great :) It seems being a little OCD about turning everything off is paying off! I just need to focus my OCD onto other aspects of saving!

    Hope everyone's having a good Tuesday !
  • Hi Mamato3,
Your post made me laugh when I read about your son - isn't it great to be independent!!

Its a pain at times when we're trying to save and our OH wants to spend.
My OH and I never seem to be on the same page regarding the big purchases. Although now our finances dictate all that. I envy couples who agree on the type of car they'll buy or the right time to replace the TV etc.

Your electric bill sounds impressive. Is that your house with the candles in the window every evening? :D

:) you made me giggle with the candles! I might try that coming into the winter months! :)

It's great that my little guy loves nursery :) It's just a little embarassing that he keeps refusing to come home! I'm now bringing sweets with me to ease his pain!

We're still no further on in the very long car saga ... hubby seems to be waiting for me to decide what to do, which I hate!

It's my little guys birthday party tomorrow, just for family but as my familys pretty big it's turning out to be quite costly! But your only 3 once so we might as well celebrate.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
  • Hi Mamato3,
My oldest used to cry when we dropped her off at the childminders and when we collected her. It didn't happen for the first 2 weeks and then she started. The child minder figured it was because the 3 year old child she also minded did it when he was dropped off after DD1 in the mornings and collected before her in the evenings and she thought it was the done thing.
And she was right, when he would be off on a week or fortnights holiday she forgot to cry. Yet his first day back and she would start again. With no thought to her poor parents who worried all day if she was settling ok and felt totally rejected when she screamed as we collected her - fickle little madam :D

Don't think it would phase either of us now - isn't it funny how things change :) Then again she is 23 now!!

Re: your hubby and the car - you've already made your mind up, he's just trying to make you feel guilty enough to give in to his idea by telling you it's up to you to decide - sorry mine does it all the time when I don't give in to his way - :D

We have married the same man!! :rotfl:

Sorry couldn't resist the temptation to tease, it's a pain when they do that. I think we feel guilty because we would like to afford what they want but are torn because of the cost. I'd wait til the weekend is over to make a decision - there's a full moon and things always get more heated and emotional at this time.

Have a lovely party for your little guy. Is that your baby?

It's so much easier when the little ones just go in without crying my older ds cried right through P1! It was heartbreaking! Although he doesn't believe me when I tell him that now. So yes, they are fickle little creatures children :) The party was for my baby :) big 3! Of course, he tells me he's "A big fella, not a baby" he had a great day but very tired and a little grumpy by the time everyone was leaving. He actually asked could he go to bed at about 7:30 which was great!

I'm sure there's quite a few of those men about lol! But ours do sound the same! It's so frustrating though I seem to have to make all the decisions and of course if they go pear shaped on my shoulders they rest. It's okay though my shoulders can take it :)

A day of cleaning awaits me so I guess I better get started - DD has a new friend she met at school coming over for a few hours - I'm hoping she's not staying for tea as I don't think I have enough in lol!

Kiddies back to school - hooray! Not hooray for the many notes that have come home requesting money for various bits and bobs! We'll be lucky to stay within the overdraft limit this month! We're almost at £130 re extra school costs between the 3 of them! And we have three birthdays this month also grr.... I feel it's going to be a tight month. I need to get back into ebaying me thinks, and make a few extra pennies.

I was hoping to make £65 to cc this month but I'll be lucky to make the £50 at the minute, I would like the cc down to £800 by December. Wishful thinking perhaps with so many extras creeping up.

Anyways off to try and get some sleep and stop thinking about money!

It was a busy week getting everyone back into the school routine we were all pretty shattered by the end of it. Hopefully this week will feel less hectic.

On the money front not too much happening at the minute - no savings this month as there's just been to much back to school costs, haven't paid my cc yet will do that Friday when I get paid. 10 Ebay items listed a few have watchers so thats always good. Have to iron a few more things to put on later .

Would love to take the kids to the cinema Saturday morning I feel like we've been so busy lately it'd be nice to do something together. Will see what the £1 film is at the weekend.

Going to hang out the washing as the sun is finally shining hopefully the rain will stay off today.
