Wow! Just had my first "big" dtd. I've had my eye on a Nikon Coolpix S6150 camera since just after Christmas. It was reduced from £199 to £99 until the end of Jan. I went in on 1st Feb and sure enough it still had the reduced price on. Disappointingly though it still scanned at £99. About a week later a new SEL appeared; still at £99 but offer now ended to 28th Feb. Without too much hope I returned again today and this time was delighted to be charged £199. One visit to CS and lo and behold a great camera for free and £1 for my troubles. Oh happy days! Isn't it great when a plan just works!

When you make a big purchase like that do you buy it along with other shopping to make it less conspicuous? Hubby bought a couple of computer mouses (mice?) that he knew would scan at the wrong price and he'd get DTD on them. We were going to put them through separately but they ended up going in with other shopping. What I'm really trying to ask is if it's difficult (read embarassing) to claim DTD on, say, an item with a SEL of £99 when you've paid £199 for it - do you say that you hadn't realised when you paid?

To be honest I was feeling slightly uncomfortable: partly because it was going to be such a big dtd, partly because it was so premeditated on my part (even though they never knew that) and partly because I had to ask a SA to scan it for me earlier so I could be sure it was mis-priced. I was worried about him turning up in the middle of the CS conversation.. As it happens it was part of a big shop. The total bill was about £330. I deliberately commented to the SA at my till that the bill seemed high, but I did this as I was actually in the process of paying so it was too late for them to check the bill or anything. I told her I would check it and go to CS if there was a mistake, so I had pretty well covered myself there.
Only problem now is I feel very self-conscious in Mr T. I want to go and check out the duracell batteries and the dishwasher tablets but might just lay low for a while. I spend about £600 a month at MrTs so it would be a real inconvenience to get barred (although hopefully they might be disinclined to bar such a regular customer).

Hi all, it's not a big one ,but just got a DTD on the Ambi Pur "Sky" refil. The SEL said £3.57 but I was actually charged £4.00 (this was the price of all the other scents). Went to CS and was given 86p back without even having to mention DTD.

dont loose any sleep over it it will take tescos 3 mins to recoup that loss.well done all i say
  • Just got our first ever DTD!
Bought two five packs of baby bodysuits (in whites and blues) as they were marked as reduced from £5 a pack to £2. Bargain we thought. They scanned through at £5 and the SA didn't correct it despite them both having reduced prices ON the item! So off to CS we go, got DTD without asking and got £12 back so an extra £2 off our shopping. Very happy!
    Slummy mummy!

Just buy a cheap pack of cheese singles or spread as well and that will bring spend over to use 2 coupons

I got a "£4 off when spend £30 " voucher from the till yesterday.
At what pont does it check the £30 spend ?
eg if I get a buy 2 get one free, does it take the total of the 3 into the £30 equation ( I assume not , but just checking).

Seems I can buy a top up voucher for my phone as well, and that isnt in the 'excluded list' from the voucher spend. Nice.
