The yellow sels are promotional sels and the date is the date the offer expires. So in theory if the yellow promotional sel is still in place after the offer has ended (the date on it has passed), then you will be overcharged and entitled to DTD.

A word of caution with these though, is that often the offers are extended and they have just not bothered to replace the sel to one that shows the new end date. Also sometimes the item can actually be reduced further.

It is best to scan the item to be sure. If you don't have a price check scanner in your store, then ask the pharmacy, or anyone that is nowhere near the cs desk, to check how much it is.

    hth :)

    Arghhhh
Had I known this the other week I would have paid for the £45 worth of boxes and then gone straight to CS and complained. The sticker on shelf was showing half marked price but had run out the day b4.

Could have had them for free, I will do better next time.

    Thanks for the help though.

  • Big sign outside tesco yesterday saying 4 pack of kit kat chunky was £1, but sel was £1.55. Charged £1.55 but got Dtd back. So 45p for the pack. Also managed to get some Dtd duracell batteries in the oldxxx store. Hanging in the toy section with bogof printed on the stand! Thanks to original poster.
  • I went to my local Tescos last night and noticed that the Whiskas 12 puches were marked at £1.74. there were no boxes on the shelves but there was also a ticket which stated "starts 7/3/12 so I went back this morning to pick up a few boxes .. and the shelves were now stocked but the tickets were gone and normal prices .. I was very dischuffed as I have two cats and they get through quite a lot of cat food !!

I just got DTD on Ecover Liquid Delicate for fine fabrics (silk and wool wash)
It should have cost £1.15 but they charged me £1.95 so I was refunded £1.52! So it cost me 43p (I think thats right?)

You were diddled somewhere along the line.
    £1.95 - £1.15 = 80p x2 = £1.60 DTD. not £1.52 should have cost you 35p not 43p.

Yes, DTD only applies in store.

You should get the £15 overcharge refunded though.
  • hopefully you guys will like this one, last week i bought a Dyson Vacuum, Sel price £189, out of date i may add, charged £289, DTD £200. A bargain i thought at £89. CS forgot to mark the receipt, so i returned it today, full £289 refund, making by my maths a £200 net profit. Well happy and no awkward questions were asked.

I found a row of 2Gb Sandisk MicroSD cards at the end of the phone display section at the Y*te Extra store this evening. It was a half-price SEL of £3.25 that ended in February. Self-scan showed at £7.50.
Didn't get any as I have quite a few lying around already.

There was also the same for a TOSlink digital audio cable in the TV cable section. Again, didn't need any so a few there if anyone wants some freebies!

I'm waiting on a decent landline phone DTD for my mum, but had some spare time wandering the aisles whilst waiting for the better half and thought they might help someone.
