I think it has to be the final total that the till says you owe, before you hand over any money / coupons etc etc.

I used the coupons Ive been saving to buy a bread knife which went through at full price of £16.99, using the coupons it should have only cost £4.99, but as I had bought a lot I didnt realise til I got home and checked my receipt that the discount hadn't come off!

Back in the car, stand in queue to speak to CS then she says it's JTD only!! All that inconvenience, time and petrol to finally be charged what I SHOULD have been charged in the first place!

Apparently coupon promotions dont count in the DTD policy, I think its ridiculous not to give something extra for the inconvenience...

I'm actually >:( raaaaaging....an overprice, is an overprice no matter what the product in my opinion!! What does anyone else think?

I would email customer services, they might send you a gift card for the difference. Sounds like you were fobbed off!

If the shelf has an orange/yellow discount label on but it has a date on it. Does that mean if it is still up after the date that I can claim DTD or does it having a date negate this? Sorry im new to the 'it's about time I got value for money at Tesco thread' :p

The yellow sels are promotional sels and the date is the date the offer expires. So in theory if the yellow promotional sel is still in place after the offer has ended (the date on it has passed), then you will be overcharged and entitled to DTD.

A word of caution with these though, is that often the offers are extended and they have just not bothered to replace the sel to one that shows the new end date. Also sometimes the item can actually be reduced further.

It is best to scan the item to be sure. If you don't have a price check scanner in your store, then ask the pharmacy, or anyone that is nowhere near the cs desk, to check how much it is.

    hth :)

Mmm ... I think someone is telling porkies ... it doesn't say that on the board behind CS ... Phone HO. I was told in a recent conversation I had with HO that "an overcharge, is an overcharge, is overcharge".

But also ... for future purchases ... wait till there's a £5 wys £40 offer (preferably from one of the newspapers) and you'll get one knife FREE.

Yesterday I got the large Santoku (£16.99) and Bread Knife (£16.99) along with some other bits to bring the shop to £40.27.

Then handed the £5 MOC to bring the total down to £35.27 ... then handed the knife coupons (2 x £12 = £24) total now £11.27 ... and then another batch of random coupons (£2.50) ... paid £8.77.

Now I can't take ANY credit for this ... this tactic was passed onto me by another supersavvy MSEr ... you know who you are :D.

I got a "£4 off when spend £30 " voucher from the till yesterday.
At what pont does it check the £30 spend ?
eg if I get a buy 2 get one free, does it take the total of the 3 into the £30 equation ( I assume not , but just checking).

Seems I can buy a top up voucher for my phone as well, and that isnt in the 'excluded list' from the voucher spend. Nice.

Multibuy offers come off before the total is calculated ... coupons and vouchers come off after.

Make sure you use the "£4 off wys £30" coupon first though!;)

It's such a shame that lots of Tecso CS staff arent 'aware' of this. It took a call to HO to get my DTD on an overcharge on an out of date SEL. I really do think Tesco needs to up its training!!!!
