Just use one of the multitude of image hosters e.g http://imgur.com - it will give you different types of links, copy & paste the "BBcode" link for forums like this.

Put the Passat in for it's MOT today, failed on a couple of trackrod ends, a couple of lower suspension arms and a cv joint.
Theres an advisory on a third suspension arm so I'm just going to go the whole hog and replace all lower and upper suspension arms.
Thats been MOT (£40), I'd done discs and pads all round (£100), the windscreen had cracked (£80 excess).
All the supension parts are £115 and the CV joint will be no more than £30. I'll get the tracking checked after I've done the work.
So £365 all in plus any tracking costs.

Over and above that, just got rid of the car the Passat replaced. £200 plus I kept the alloys off it. They're only 2-3 years old and in good condition so hopefully £150 for them. Then theres the car specific injector puller and timing pin kit. Possibly another £150.

So all in all, not a bad day.

The Megane is currently in for the MOT this morning. Not been to collect it yet, but I have just checked the results on the motinfo.gov.uk site. Not looking good... :(

    • Brakes imbalanced across an axle (3.7.B.5b)

Lee, I'm in two minds about that fail. The brake failures could all potentially be fixed by a general strip down and lubrication, and that's fine, but to fail on an engine mounting is pretty rare. Normally these are a pass and advise unless the thing is clanking and the engine has the potential to fall out!
If your happy with the NT and your going to do the work yourself, that's not a hugely expensive list to attend to.

Won't be doing the work myself so looks like I'll be on the hunt for quotes, starting with the MOT garage when I go and collect the car.

I've used this garage in the past for MOT's and repairs on my old 206 but I haven't used them in the last 2 years. Not sure if their trustworthiness has decreased in that time.

Wish I had seen this thread before getting rid of my old car.
    2002 2.2HDI Citroen C5 Estate.

Bought it in 2003 with 8K miles on the clock. Sold it last month for £500, had 248K mile on the clock. Started first time always, blew a little smoke. Original clutch, suspension worked great. A/C long gone and the tracking was a little out.

In the years I had it, never spent much on it apart from the usual, pads, tyres etc.

Passed its MOT in November with an advisory about ABS brake line. Never had an ounce of trouble.

Its gone to live on a farm now for a old farmer to transport his dogs about.
