  • I hope you didn't pay much for that tyre, it was probably only about £30 new. They're pretty horrible.

Paid £23. I've noticed they have been advertising "Any tyre any size £20 fitted" on Facebook, so not sure how they came to £23. Maybe it was because I didn't take up their offer of new track rods, who knows.

Place specialises in part worn tyres and valets, don't think I'll be going back.

Cheapest new tyre I could find was £41 from Asda Tyres with no name.

could be either ball joints or track rod ends.. mine needed both sides replacing last mot..

Tyre was bald on outside edge but still decent tread on rest of tyre. Offside tyre is starting to do the same.

Rather take it to my usual garage and see what it fails on first, then get repairs done. MOT booking in for next week hopefully.

Yeah, I wouldn't be going back if I were you. Brand new Accelera from Camskill £32:

could be either still lol. mine was pulled up for lower ball joints and track rod ends on both sides.. apparently these meganes eat them. that and the state of the roads fella..
not that much to do both anyway. parts were circa £30 for both on mine.. (although i did them myself)

  • What I'll do after the MOT, I'll get 2 new tyres for the front after I've had the tracking done and have this Accelera tyre put on the spare wheel as that is bald too.

This place quoted me £65 but not sure if that was for 1 or both sides. Wasn't paying attention as already made my mind up not to give them work on a whim.

I've just bought (just, well Dec-14) my wife an 02 fiesta, 1.25 zetec.

83k miles from new, only 2x owners, MOT'd until April.

Cost £500, rear wiper and hazard light didn't work on purchase.

New wiper motor £125, new indicator stalk £100.

Went to the local scrap yard, both parts for £10, all in working order now.

MOT in April, will go to the local MOT only place and see what happens. If it passes this car will genuinely be kept until it dies!
Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....

only real issue on fiesta's of this sort of age is rust/welding..

they tend to eat wishbones/lower arms and droplinks which both are fairly cheap to replace..

ive had both the 1.3 pushrod variety and the zetec although being of the larger build they weren't ideal cars for me :rotfl:

I've just had a part worn Accelera tyre fitted yesterday (never heard of them before) to the Megane, 185/60/R15 for £23. Tread depth is nearly new.

When I was at a fast fit place last week there was a poster on the wall warning about the perils of part worn tyres and that insurance companies wouldn't cover a car with part worn tyres.

Never seen anything so ridiculous. Does that mean you aren't insured after you've driven your car for 500 miles and the tyres are no longer new?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I suspect what they are referring to is that if you had an accident, and the investigation somehow proved you'd chosen to have part-worn tyres fitted in lieu of new, and they had contributed to the accident, then the insurer might refuse to pay your claim.

How they would prove that I have no idea. Equally, I bet the poster didn't say that :)

    Not very bangernomics friendly.

  • Thinking of a nice little Micra for the cheap tax and insurance, especially for the winter months, when the bikes start to lose their appeal these days.
