    By the way, are you having trouble with your new printer. HP updates.
    I have to keep re-installing minet Auto update keeps throwing up failure, and windows has to select a nother way of downloading them? But it downloads the whole EXE set up file every time, and tries to flog me ink, and keeps re-aligning ,using ink.
    Other than that, it,s ok:rotfl::rotfl:

    My printer is running fine, no problems to report:)
    As for auto update, I think I have those switched off, but not sure tbh
    Have set up 3 more of the same printer and all of those have gone ok and are still working fine, maybe you got a duff one;)

    The link to amazon is just the filtered faceplate.
    It is not the whole NTE5.
    The filtered faceplate fits over the NTE5 in place of the existing lower detachable half - I think - not got one myself.

    That is correct ChiefGrasscutter, mine arrived today and its simply connect up wires 2 and 5 for an extension from your existing faceplate and screw in place and its done;)

    Something which OR charge £130 to do:eek: ok not everyone could manage it, but should be easy enough for most.

    Hi, I think I will switch mine off too. I always get the duff one .Just been on phone 1.5hours to AOL.TT about OR engineer coming out.
    Talk about useless. Now I wished I had never changed my BT line 2 months ago, something I vowed I,d never do:::I,m like Philious Fogg. Been on to Ireland/scotland/Lancashire/and finally India again.today.
    Sorry Grasscutter, I confused you by cross threading to callistris about printer;;

    Just out of curiosity, I was asked to take the faceplate off by TT a short while ago.
    I dion't have anything behind the faceplate (no test socket, nothing).
    However, there were 3 wires disappearing into the wall which seems a bit odd.
    Anyone any ideas?

    Maybe it wasn't the master socket, do you have anymore sockets in the house?

    Have a look at this link to help identify

    Not that I've ever been able to find and I've lived there 10 years.

    Does your socket look anything like the ones in the link I provided?

    It looks like one of the LJU3's.
    From memory, I'd have to say the secondary looking at the rear of the front-plates.

    BT used to fit those sort of sockets as a master before NTE5's were installed, which is probably likely if your house is old.

    If there is no other socket like an NTE5 in the house with a split front plate, then you will be stuck as you have no test socket to connect to as TT have asked.

    I would expect fitting an NTE5 would be your only option, which legally you may or may not be allowed to do yourself as opinions differ greatly on this subject:)

    TT were a pain, insisting I must have a test socket somewhere (good luck finding one).
    I'm now with Plusnet and I'm wondering if it's worth getting them to fit one?
