Sorry to hear about your Mum Lois - as everyone says just take care of yourself and don't worry about the weight at the minute.
Thanks for the post Fred - my scale tell me that my BMR is 1751. I thought that I had to stick to tht amount, but from what you say I should be eating a bit more. Off to check out the links you posted. Thanks.0 -
Lois I'm sorry to hear about your Mums passing - and good luck for clearing the house - it's not a nice job to do.
According to the information on the website Jess the BMR is the absolute minimum you should be eating, anything less than that and your body goes into starvation mode.
Vix my TDEE is 2099 and my BMR is 1749. When I logged the food I ate I was eating between 1200 and 1300 calories each day - so if their theory is correct it would explain why I've stalled weight loss wise.
I'll let you know how I get on - as some people say it takes around 6 weeks for your body to get used to the increased calories and start losing normally and you may have a small gain in the meantime until your body realises you're not in starvation mode.
Also as you lose weight your number change so you have to keep calculating.0 -
Lois - Sorry to hear about your Mum - take time to look after yourself.
Just popping in to record 1.5 lb loss this week. But unfortunately not much walking done. Off to stay with brother on Friday for couple of days so SW out the window, but he does enjoy a 12 mile romp over the moors before lunch!!
So that might help.
Hope everyone has a good week.Jane 21120 -
68.3 kg today. Going to aqua-aerobics this morning. It might achieve just as much if I put my cozzy on and jumped around in the back garden, because it's absolutely hammering it down! I'd certainly get just as wet.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

1lb loss for me this week. A bit disappointed with that as I have been really good the last few days, and its probably only water loss, but at least its going in the right direction.DFW Nerd 1394.

Condolences to you and your family Lois. Was your mum's passing anticipated? Not nice either way, and having had to do it a couple of times now, the house clearing can be rather emotional.
Take good care of yourself, and to be honest, if I were you right now, I'd probably not be focussing on dieting as such, but maybe just try to make sure I still eat as sensibly as possible. You can remedy any small gain after things have calmed down again in a few weeks.
I'm in the midst of lots of baking right now, as I've got a 2 day event this w/end to prepare for. Have also agreed to accompany OH on a long drive down to Gatwick (your part of the world now Vix) to collect some elderly friends from their flight back from Florida, which means getting up at about 4.30am tomorrow... not looking forward to that one bit, but feel happier knowing I'll share the driving with OH and he won't have to do it all. It does mean I've cost myself a day's work though
So, quickly reporting a -2lb loss this week please Fred. Not done any exercise as such, but going out for a walk in this weather really isn't my thing. Torrential rain here yet again... I can't even figure out which direction it's coming from today because it's on the windows front & back of the house? maybe it's a whirlwind today!! Sods law that I've just run out of eggs (used over 2 dozen so far), and need to buy some condensed milk, so I'll have to brave it to the supermarket at least. One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0 -
