    Hi all,

Just got back from my long w/end away.

Beanie - sorry to hear your back is in spasm. Mine does that, especially when I am stressed, and it's grim, so I'm really hoping your's improves soon, and that you are pain free.
I think the 10 syns thing is so that you are guaranteed that lovely big first week loss with SW. That gives you the encouragement to continue. If you do have big loss, be prepared to have a much smaller one the following week. To be honest, if you stick to the plan, and as Lois recommended, have all the free foods within your meals, then realistically you could have a couple of kitkats per day to have your choccie fix. I used to have the Kellogs Fibre plus dark choc bars as my HeB and save it until the evening with a cuppa, as they were really yummy. They're a bit pricey though, so would look online to find the s/mkt where they were on offer (Morrisons and Waitrose seemed to have them bogof quite often if I recall correctly). I agree, it's not always cheap to do the SW thing, but then that just reinforced my belief that only over-processed carp food seemed to be cheap in the shops. A large pizza was 99p, a bag of apples was £3! Ridiculous. If you have access to a Lidl they do their cheap veg/fruit offers in there, and I just learnt to buy whatever fruit & veg was on offer in the s/mkt I use. Frozen veg is just as good as fresh in many ways, as it's vitamins are locked in, and if you steam or microwave them, they retain more too, and is often cheaper, and you won't have it going off in the fridge. If you can, keep an eye on the SW thread on the health board to see when offers of things are mentioned, they're quite canny over there ;)

Lois - good luck! I really hope you have managed to make your target loss. You've tried so hard, and really deserve it. I'm sure your friends/family in the UK will notice the big difference in you. Eating away from home is tricky on a diet, but at least you're trying. Just think, you burn more calories trying to keep warm in the cold! Brrrrrr! :snow_laug

Hi Mazza, well done on giving up the ciggies. It's tough to do, but it's SO worth it. You'll never regret doing it, so stick with it, and congrats on making it to 3 weeks. We'll be here when you're ready to join us again. How's the knee?

Well, I just about managed to stay on my plan. I did have to have a slight deviation, that I wasn't happy about, but it would have made things very awkward for myself to have sat with my own little bar of diet food, and everyone else was sat having a family meal. I just asked my friend to do me a tiny portion, I had a bit of salad, and then had nothing else for the rest of the day. I have to say my insides really weren't happy to have had wheat again (I had lasagne) and I've been paying for it ever since. Not to worry, been totally back on plan today, and I know that in the next 2 days or so I'll be clear of anything my body didn't like, and my tummy will have calmed down again.

Hope we all have a good week. Kids back to school tomorrow, so that's a positive start!:T

Also had a short 2Km warm up bike ride in the gym before pilates and kettleworx - does that count towards the distance challenge?

Beanie: Woa! Well done girl!!!!!! :D

Mazza: Congratulations! I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to give up smoking, my brother has just done it and i'm really proud of him!

Without noticing it, when i go shopping i am trying on a lot more size 10 things than ever. I even tried on a figure hugging size 10 dress yesterday, it looked a bit pants cos i must be a big 10 now, but still very much a 12 on my thighs. I think going on the exercise bike and going 10k most times has really helped! I also think my boyfriend helps a lot in how i feel about my self image, there are perks to going out with a guy who works in mental health! :p

Hope every is good, i'm off to pathos later, its a loooooong day!

Hi all. Sorry this post has taken me so long. Past 2 weeks have been crazy. Got back from Devon end of last week then we had easter and relatives visit then my eldest son had a friend over and he went out and just having him at home instead of school makes things crazy! He and his little brother have been driving me insane! (kept arguing)

Anyway i had weigh in on Thursday like normal and thankfully had a loss of -4lb. I think my very good behaviour after the holiday and all the chasing kids and walking (party dances in the evenings :o) helped! Anyway hope everyone has had a much better week after Easter (and now kids are back at school lol i swear my 3 make me need a nice glass of wine and chocolate/icecream)!
  • ok thanks fred.I must say how hard it is when you have had a break on hols and you get back to the cutting down I find I am very hungry but I am going to keep going.

Evening all, reporting a 3.5lb loss for me this week. I did try hard - for at least 3 days, when I didn't have any 'syns' and then under 10 syns a day for the rest.

Sary - thanks for your upbeat post, you are right about Lidl and their veg offers. SW works if you have the time to plan and ahead and do a lot of cooking.

Mazza - well done on giving up the ciggies - it must be incredible hard.

Hope everyone has a good week.:T

Some great losses this week! :j:j:j

Its a 1lb loss for me. Suprised it's not a gain actually, lol, as I've spent pretty much the whole week sat on my bum in front of the laptop. I've been working on an assignment (Worst assignment... EVER! :(), it's due in today though so looking forward to being able to move a bit more tomorrow, lol.

I've eased off the low carbing a bit as I knew that I wouldn't be able to exercise much (and it doesn't really work if I don't exercise) so have just been watching the cals and eating lower GI foods. Not sure what I'll do from tomorrow onwards, I might carry on with this for a bit. Will figure it out later.

Anyway, best get back to it...
  • +1lb gain for me this week - thanks, Fred.

Bit of a rubbish time lately so a lot of emotional eating has been going on. I'm trying desperately to get back on track, but it's just so difficult :(
