  • Hi all
I haven't been on this thread before but you seem a friendly bunch:D
I'm on the 5:2 diet. I hope this is a diet for life as it seems sensible, suits me and is working so far. However, I've been on so many diets - I find it easy to lose weight but I also put it back on easily- that I've got cynical about them all.

This time however, my OH is doing it too and that helps a lot. We shall see.

The reason for posting is to find out what weighing scales you use. (Weighing me, not food!) I don't mind spending a bit but would like one that measures body fat etc and be easy to read.

Thanks if you can help and keep up the good work.

This all makes sense now I've finished reading the book! lol

I can see the point of what PMcK is saying particularly the psychological reasons we over-eat, and I'd love to have a magical transformation in the way I eat that just makes the pounds drop off, but this method still involves making big lifestyle changes.

Our Sunday tradition is to have a lie-in then have bacon and eggs for brunch. We usually have toast with it, but today I decided to wait until I'd finished the bacon and eggs and then see if I was still hungry. I didn't have toast.

I also took longer to eat the bacon and eggs and although I didn't chew each mouthful 20 times, I did chew it longer, and put my knife and fork down, but I hate cold food and I was seriously worried it would get cold before I finished it!

It's been an hour since I ate and I'm starting to think I didn't eat enough - I'm not exactly hungry, but I don't feel satisfied either.

This is where I think the whole plan isn't going to work - we're going out soon (to Ikea) and we'll probably have a coffee in the cafe, and by then I'll be properly hungry and find it hard to resist a cake. If I'd had toast with brunch, I'd resist the naughties.

PMcK's advice is to eat when you're properly hungry, but that isn't necessarily going to fit in with the daily routine of work - I can't just eat whenever I want to so I try to make sure I have enough breakfast to keep me going until lunchtime, and enough lunch to last until I get home.

I haven't listened to the DVD yet, and I'm not sure about it now, yet when I heard PMcK being interviewed about this new book, I was convinced it was going to be right for me.

I wonder if I'm resisting it because there's something deep in my psyche that doesn't want to be thin. *shrugs*

    LL :)

p.s. enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

I am totally with you on this! I find it hard not to eat a lot so that i don't fall into a hunger trap later. I don't know why i am so worried about feeling hungry, and perhaps this is more of the issue then not wanting to be thin? Perhaps a lot of over weight people have a stronger fear of feeling hungry, and so eat more to not feel it?

If i could just eat a bowl of cheerios, and something small for lunch and dinner i would probably be a lot thinner, but i do like to add things in to make me last longer. Perhaps what i add in is where the problem lies!!

Hi Fred, please could you put me down for the Candle Lit Dinner and the Channel Tunnel please.

Its a STS weight wise but I lost 1.5 inches so not too disappointed.

    Exercise: 2hrs 15 mins

Started off with some sort of lurgy last night, sore throat, tickly cough, congested head so not feeling like exercise today. Don't feel like eating much either so perhaps thats a good thing.

Sounds like you've got what I'm recovering from. I've felt wiped out for a week so hope you don't get it too bad. Leave the exercise for now and just rest up!
