    Morning all,

Nice to see plenty of new faces here too :)

As promised a few weeks ago, I'm returning to try to get the lbs off again. I seem to have been doing this for far too long now, so it would be nice to master the losing, and keeping it off part. I think I've lost the same 2 stone for far too many years now. *sighs*

Anyway, life here is calm enough for me to begin to focus a bit more on me again. I think the past year has proven that when I get stressed I definitely eat more, which also proves how much of an emotional eater I must be I guess. So on top of controlling what I eat, I need to learn to control the stress too... I've yet to work out how to do that, but it's a start just admitting it!

Fred, can you add me to the list/teams for the 5lb challenge, several resolutions and the distance challenge. Do you want me to PM you my starting weight? Also can you add 4.6 miles to my distance so far.

OH has gained a few lbs for the first time in his life, but that's mainly due to the fact that he's been rendered practically inactive since last May when he hurt his back. He's finally back on his feet again, although not pain-free totally, but is encouraging me to go out and do some walking with him. I have to say that the weight I have gained is definitely affecting one of my knees, so there's definitely a reason to lose it now that I cannot ignore. Because it is a bit sore, I'm having to do the exercise a day on/off at least, to not aggravate it.

Diet-wise I'm just following a heathy eating principle. No gimmick or fads this time. I'd rather see the weight melt away slowly, but without me feeling I'm really going without, or making huge changes. That means eating less sugar, high fat, refined wheat foods, which don't really have a nutritional benefit, and upping the veg, fruit, whole foods. Basically it's a bit like doing Slimming World again, but without the membership fees ;)

    Good luck everyone!

Well I weighed myself today as Mondays are my weigh in day and i've lost 3/4 of a pound! Not much BUT I gave up alcohol 8 days ago so i've been eating sweets to combat the cravings. However, as of yesterday I stuck to Slimming world type diet so that's my plan for this next week and I've also upped my exercise. Total so far for the challenge is 4 miles on my bike. Probably slightly more but i'm guessing a bit so far. I've done 20, 25, 30, then 35 mins on x bike and crosstrainer so today I will up it to 40 mins, 45 tomorrow!
I'm hoping to lose 2 lbs this week. Off to buy a load of fruit later and going for a long walk so that should help. Little one goes back to school tomorrow so that'll give me a bit more time in terms of exercise and also his school is 1 mile round trip and we walk.
    Good luck everyone x

jak - well done on the loss - a loss is still a loss, regardless of how much !

I started the 30 day shred this morning (again!) I am determined to see it through to the end! The furthest I got on previous attempts was day 21 or something...

I said I'd like to mix it up a bit also - but I will be doing other things in addition to 30DS - since it is only 20min workout, I think I can commit to that, and then throw in some additional stuff along the way - see how I go! I went to spinning at the gym back in November when I joined and LOVED it - I did two classes (mon then wed) and never returned...crazy? I think I will try and go at least once a week.

Then I have been promising andy that we will go for more walks together on the evenings. We are trying to become more productive and watch less tv and become more efficient with our time. And we think that going for walks will be a nice way to wind down, talk and plan things and additional bonus is, it is a form of exercise!

Diet/Food wise, I am not being particularly "strict" to start with. A bit like you sarymclary - I will be cutting back on anything high in salt/sugar and trying to eat less carbs. A good thing I heard from Brian Tracy (a business and personal guru - we listen to his audio cds) was eliminate from your diet the three white poisons - salt, sugar and flour - so that is my basic mantra at the moment.

I am hoping that by upping the exercise and eating sensibly I will see some results - and I can tweak things as I go.

Enjoy your zumba tonight leictina and well done on the new start!

lolly that diet sounds like hell for me - I am too much of a hungry person and I think I would go insane, so massive kudos to you for sticking it out girl!

    Have a good day everyone!

20 mins on the crosstrainer today. My body is really complaining. I wanted to do 40 mins but nevermind, more tomorrow!

AndysLinz, I think that your new mantra is spot on! :) I think if you can eliminate those three things as much as possible then you're definitely on the right track. I'm pretty much flour free at the moment (with the odd treat! :o) and I definitely feel so much better than I did before. It's surprising how much the type of food you eat can affect your day to day living.

Well I feel like I've not stopped eating today! I've probably not actually eaten that much, but I've been feeling hungry all day - so have been eating all day, as it's one of my 'days off' from the diet, lol. Considering doing another 'Starvation day' tomorrow. I'm actually starting to like doing them, they aren't always great at the time, but I feel so much better afterwards - and I'm loving stepping on the scales at the moment :D Lost another lb this morning, so 4.5 so far! Can't quite believe it.

Hiya guys, the the proverbial bad penny here I am again :o

Been such a bad time with the dd this past few months I just haven't got into things at all. Think things came to a head at beginning of December when it kinda hit her that she's disabled. Spent 24 hours crying, then got her face on and her attitude adjusted and has a new determination about her. We've finally got a date for seeing the ligament reconstruction guy at the hospital, so no doubt you'll see bendy back too if they can fix her. At least we'll know one way or another on the 14th Jan.

Today the healthy eating plan has started and I'm determined it will continue long into the new year. My knees are just getting worse with old age :rotfl: The exercise will start on Thursday. Won't have time to do anything until then, busy couple of days.

Great to see some old faces here, and the new ones too.

For those of you who have gone wheat free, have you found something to replace it with? I'm such a fuss pot, I don't like things like rice and pasta, so always really struggle with that. Not a big salad fan either. Although, have found I eat less bread when I attempt to lose weight as I cut out butter completely. So I'm looking for some healthy alternatives from you.

Freds - Can you sign me up for the 5lbs challenge, not sure what the other one is but I'll probably give it a go, probably just 1mile a day on the exercise bike.

Genius do a very nice wheat free (gluten free) seeded bread loaf - you can get them in most free from sections in the supermarkets - if it's reached rural west wales I'm sure you can get it everywhere :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We've got a bread maker and you can buy different flours to bake with or make bread with.

You can also get wheat free (gluten free) rolls, pitta breads and pizza bases and lots of naughty cakes and biscuits in the free from sections (I can recommend the cherry bakewells :o). It's a bit trial and error to find the ones you like best but once you get there it's ok.

Fingers crossed for Bendy - and it's nice to see you back.
