My legs have been so sore since my 30 day shred dvd that I haven't managed it again! I've been through this everytime I re-start the DVD, painful but worth it I hope! Aiming to do it again tomorrow and then every couple of days until my legs adjust.
I've been looking at joining a gym as I'd like to do a variety of classes but they are around £4-£6 a go! I've found a no-frills gym thats £20 a month and includes all their classes so as long as I go once or twice a week I've got my money's worth. There's no contract so thinking of joining next week and trying it for a month or two.
Did manage a few sit-ups this morning and I'm doing well on the healthy eating front - LOTs of fruit purchased from the shops today, hehe.0 -

Thanks guys
I'll keep you posted on how it's going, at the moment it's looking like I've finally found the perfect diet!
Welcome to the thread Monz!
I'm on my second 'starvation day' today. It's going pretty well so I may have to consider changing the name, lol. So far I've had 18 cals, lol. I'm finding that I'm not particularly hungry at all. I've just made some potato and leek soup as I felt a little hungry earlier. It is usually delicious, but I just can't face it now, so I'll be having scrambled egg with mushrooms later, when I feel like it. It is definitely a lot easier today, I don't seem to have an appetite at all, if I'd have had this soup infront of me last time it'd be gone in seconds, lol. It's probably helped that I haven't got the boys with me as when they're around I seem to spend the whole time preparing food!0 -
:DHey folks
loving the challenge you are such an encouraging bunch. Well its time to bite the bullet and realise I need to put the work in and stop the lip service and pretending affirmations will make the lbs melt away.
am unsure whether to put a target on it but based on the scales (boo) at the gym I need to lose at minimum 14lbs so lets just round that up to 20lbs so the 5lbs per month challenge is perfect for me.

I've done it a couple of times and I re-started it this week. Legs have finally settled to a dull ache which is much preferable to the agony of the first 3 days! How are you finding it?
Still doing well on the healthy eating front but its not easy - I want junk food!0 -
Hi all....
I have been a long lurker of this thread often popping on for some inspiration. I did join maybe twice and failed to keep up to date with posting...but I would like to give it another go, if you lovely bunch will have me
I have battled for many years to keep my weight under control, and this year I am determined to reach my target and STICK to it! I am getting married in July and want to look and feel my best. I don't think I need any more motivation than that.
I have got TWO yes TWO gym memberships, as a result of signing into a contract and then changing jobs and signing up to another  However, they get very infrequent use. I shall be making it my mission to use my memberships! And to mix it up, I will also be doing the 30 Day Shred (as I see some of you are doing) I love this workout and have had previous great results from it.
Well, I have babbled enough and will be trying to check in every couple of days or so - and tomorrow is my brand new shiney start - here's to a healthier year!

Welcome Newbies
Well done on starting the 5:2 diet Lolly. I have toyed with the idea, but think I probably lack the willpower. I will be following you with interest.
I have started the 30 Day Shred a few times but not completed it. I find going to the gym keeps me motivated and am lucky to have got reduced membership through GP referral scheme. Feel like since I am being 'subsidised' I should make use of it - lol.
Fred - Can you add 10 miles walking to the challenge please.
Well, the last of the celebrations are finally over and the cupboards have been emptied of all 'goodies' at last. My 30 day trial of going 'wheat free' will begin tomorrow. I have to say I am really looking forward to 'detoxing'. I have had headaches, heartburn and terrible 'hot flushes' since Christmas. To think I used to feel like this most of the time.0 -
Hi Guys,
It's lovely to see lots of new people joining! :j Welcome to the thread Misselvis and Andyslinz!
Jak - I'm doing the 5:2 diet, well a version of it - I guess you'd call it the 2:1. It involves limiting your calories to 1/4 of your daily requirement on two days a week (or one in every three days in my case). It's kind of like calorie counting but you kind of do it all in one go rather than spreading it out each day, which not only makes it a lot easier (like a part time diet!), but it actually has a lot of other health, and diet, benefits. There is a thread on it if anyone's interested, and the first page or two has links to further info on it... here
Fred - Sorry to be a pain but could you zero me, also I've just done 9km on the bike for the challenge0 -
Jess - my biggest fault is my lack of willpower! lol. If I can do it, anyone can
I'll keep you all posted on how I'm getting on, and if the diet continues as it has, I'll definitely be recommending it!
