    Hi

Well done to Dannie SOTW and Jess444 SOTM, I'm aiming for those targets :).

Well, I weighed myself this morning and compared to 3 weeks ago I'd lost 1.4lb - not a lot but better than what I thought it would be - and it has inspired me :jI will weigh myself again on Monday as was my norm and continue from there.

Petrichor, I put on 10 lb when I visited Madiera in May and I am still trying to get rid of it. I was really surprised as I seemed to live on fish and salad - and walking up all of those hills must have burned some calories!! Indeed Jess!!! We walked the levadas like there was no tomorrow and only ate the gorgeous fresh fish, grilled meats, salads and veg; but we found that if you frequented a restaurant a few times they insisted on giving you freebies - at one place the waiter said that he would like to give "Madam" a taster of their wonderful desserts and along came a huge dish of melon, lemon mousse, ice cream, flavoured sponges and lord knows what else, but of course "Madam" was far too polite to not polish off the whole lot :rotfl:.

Margaretclare I loved Knaresborough and we deliberately chose a hotel complete with pool and spa, unfortunately my swimsuit did not fit me for some unknown reason (see above)! So we just had to limit ourselves to the enjoyment of the restaurant and bar  (and of course the beautiful surrounding area).

I seem to have forgotten how to do references to posts but I'll suss it out, anyway good luck to everyone as we all know that this is the most difficult time of year and just because we have a bad day doesn't mean it cancels out all of the good ones!

    Hello everyone,

Nice to see some familiar faces still here (and returning). I'll be returning again soon too, but I'm just so flat out working, that I have just had the time to switch on the PC, and already feel like I want to get into bed - which is stripped I've just remembered, argh!

    Welcome back Petrichor and Margaretclare.

I want to try to get back on the bandwagon before Christmas arrives, so thinking after my last busy working day of 11th December might be a good time to try to rein things in. I need to stop buying croissants, that would definitely help ;) I did so well 6 months or so ago to lose a couple of stone, but it's creeping back on again with a vengeance, and I stepped on the scales again today, and I just felt so disappointed in myself :( I rejoined slimming world online a few weeks ago, but only logged onto the site a couple of times, and the magazines I got sent haven't even been opened or read, I've had too little time, and probably little inclination too.

Anyway, looks a few of us are feeling rather fed up with ourselves, but what better reason to get to grips, and make ourselves feel better? So, here's to a better end to the year, than it's been recently, foodwise anyway.

Quite right Sary. I think it is really positive that so many of us are here 'plodding on' into Dec and not thinking of waiting until Jan.

Since I am feeling so positive ;) - next month Fred could you put me down for the 5lb challenge, 26 mile Santa trip and the Star team.

Thanks Beanie, I'll keep on plodding :)

Well done Jess. I never see the point waiting until January, when what we actually need is to feel that we don't have carte blanche to gorge over the festive period. I've never been conventional, I joined SW in a November once before too, and even managed to lose over Christmas, but I was a very good girl then ;)

  • Hi :hello:

Bit of a crummy day so far having got tempted by minced beef pie and mushy peas :o why oh why? I very rarely eat pastry! I hang my head in shame for being so weak on just day 3 of my new healthy eating plan.........so.....

Fred please include me in your 5lb monthly challenge to get the motivational juices flowing.

I have been reading through some of the earlier posts and was pleased to read that you should over eat 1 day a week so I'm going to let this be my day although I won't have much else (if anything) for the rest of the day.

I was reading this article yesterday which supports the idea of intermittent fasting and eating 'normally' the rest of the time. It worked for the writer but I have a feeling I would 'plan ahead' and eat more the day before a planned fast!

    Have a great weekend.

Agreed, I have just been talking to OH about what we REALLY need to buy in for Christmas. Always buy tons of stuff 'for visitors' and I end up eating it all. We are having Christmas dinner at DD's this year and only having the family around to us on Boxing Day, so only really need to buy extra for 1 day.

I did toy with the idea of intermittent fasting following the Horizon programme. However, there does seem to be quite a bit of research that says it is not as effective or healthy for women. There is a thread on here somewhere with lots of information.

Found it - here is the link
