    Morning All

So first day strict budget :) feeling quite positive !!

Have added a sig (if it works) showing my employer loan which I forget about because it comes straight from salary - when it's done I will have £100 to put to debts :j
Thinking of asking them to up it by £60 (my payrise) as it's money I didn't have before - I won't miss it ?! See how this month goes first !

It seems like I may have a houseful again tonight ..... So best enjoy the peace while I can :D

Right - time to get on !

Well - that was bank holiday ..... And it rained all day - beautiful :rotfl:

Yesterday was nice - we spent all day playing board games and watching DVDs it was really nice :)
    Nothing fro
Sec loan yet but hope to hear something this week. Don't know if I have mentioned this but also have sent in a PPI claim (feel bad for this but I genuinely feel it was completely mis sold in our case) so whilst I am not expecting any ££ it will be interesting to see what they say.

Have done little if any housework , hardly any washing , barely looked at my bank .. Oops ! And probably slept a minimum of 9 hours a day. But, before I start to feel too guilty this is only really my 2nd mini break since Christmas - I have had to use all my holiday in bits & pieces and odd days this year. I am just plain exhausted really !

Back to it tomorrow but at least it's only a short week :T
Last lazy day today and I am going to enjoy it :)
We are going out for lunch today the 3 of us (well more likely early dinner unless I can surgically remove kids from their beds!)

Hope everyone has had a great BH.

    Morning Coco,

I haven't been around for while , so thought I would drop in to see how you are.

Your day yesterday sounds lovely, I love a day with the girls playing games without the constant intrusion of mobile phones, Facebook etc. bane of my life !

Sounds as though your lovely long lie ins are well deserved, don't feel guilty !

Good luck dragging kids out of bed, I have the same problem here, but have told them with only a few days left before school starts they need to start setting alarms and getting up earlier. No sound of any alarm clocks yet today though !

Hope your day goes well x:D

    Morning Coco.

I'm back at work, currently on a conference call :D

Don't feel bad about the PPI claim. As you will know the banks have set aside millions to pay these claims. The reason for that and the reason you should not feel guilty is that had you needed to actually claim on the insurance due to illness or unemployment you would almost certainly have found that you weren't covered for one reason or another. Very few people met the criteria for claiming, hence the on-going scandal.

I spent the Bank holiday weekend with friends. There was a BBQ on Saturday, we were lucky with the weather. Sunday was spent reading the papers and lazing about. Yesterday was dinner with friends.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

Ahh thank you both :) I am feeling guilty about both lie ins and PPI today ......

Praise the lord :T there is a child !!! A very grumpy looking , tired , half dressed whiny child but at least he is up :D

Now for number 2 .... This may take some time !!! X

  • Hi Coco. I thought I'd pop in and say hello again. As Masonn says, the banks have set aside millions to recompense people, so you get whatever is due to you. As my OH says about these things, better in your pocket than theirs.

And, enjoy your lie-ins! It sounds like you work harder and have the responsibility off your children, a lie in is a free treat!

I was trying to think of more ways to money save, and help a busy household, that may be obvious to some but not others, so apologies if this is obvious!

One thing we always do is 'put the house to bed' each night. We spend just 10 mins or so to tidy up papers, rubbish etc; wash any dishes and wipe surfaces; plump cushions, and, if we have an early appt, we name sure any paperwork is ready if needed. This 10 mins is invaluable, and it's surprising what you can do.

Re shopping, well. Fashion mags tell us ladies to colour match - buy clothes that mix and match with each other. Well, I find food matching works too. If you have a general overview of what your family eats it's often easy to buy staples, eg pasta and sauces that are on offer, and that will last in the store cupboard. H@me B@rgains or @ldi have some good ones and it's then eay to add them to fresh (and cheap!) meat and veg etc. Sorry if this sounds patronising! You probably do this, but I'm often (silently) amazed at friends who don't have any stores in!!!

As before, good luck in your endeavours, it sounds like you are really on track. R x

Thanks RT :) nice to hear from you.

Putting the house to bed .... Now that's a good plan. I normally switch off tv , check doors & windows are locked and that's it ! Like you say 10/20 mins well spent....

Food - still a work in progress :) I just need to find the energy to go through cupboards / fridge etc.

Still waiting on 2nd son to appear !!!!! I just checked his pulse - I have just hoovered under his bed & he didn't stir :rotfl:

So much for going out for lunch lol !

:rotfl:That made me laugh re second son ! How old is he, icant remember, Im sure you have mentioned it somehwere though ! I was actually amazed, turns out my DD1 had set her alarm and was up at 9, she didnt show her face until we happened to pass each other ont he stairs at 11.30 and she was carrying a black bin bag, turns out she had been up and mucking out her room ! I was shocked and stunned.

Turns out there was a party this afternoon she wanted to go to and knew that if she hadent done that job she wouldnt be allowed to go after being naughty last night with her phone usage !

We put our "house to bed" too, infact I am quite obsessive about it, particularly the pillow plumping ! My food Stores though are a sorry sight to behold at the moment though , I must confess ! :o

Hmmmm ..... Quick question anyone? Just checking out my credit report - there are a couple of really old accounts 7& 8 years old - that are still outstanding as far as I am concerned but showing as "settled" ?

Not sure why this & thought one of you clever people may know :)

Good grief it's thursday already today :)

.43p to rounding account and 2 little surveys done. Meals almost as planned this week ..... Almost ! Busy week next week so must get organised this weekend - and it's back to school on weds too (secretly dreading the getting up/getting out the door scenario tbh). So I will make the most if last few non stress days :)

Letter from secured :T quite nice letter informing me they are considering all avenues of help before they decide what they can do. Also asking if I would mind filling in an up to date income / exprnditure for them. I will do this at the weekend - I want to take my time & do it properly. I normally rush these things , miss off vital expenditure & realise I have underestimated things. I need to get this one right first time - though I know it will show a minus figure when I include all outgoings, but it's pointless promising things I can't do so would rather do it right :)

My little book of lists is up and running again so I am getting organised at least. Even if I am broke - at least if my house is under control it feels more manageable. Have been putting my house to bed this week too :)

Hope all having a good week !
