Wow your kids are finishing early! We have another 2 weeks yet
. Anyway my dryer has broken in the middle of the monsoon season and we have decided not to replace it until our debts are paid. We have rigged up a fan blowing set up in the spare room, using our airers. Its kind of working really well. I have to keep going in and turning things around but its getting things dry quicker. Glad to see you are doing so well.

I picked my little car up yesterday !!!! I have never been so pleased to see it. I will never say mean things about it ever again
I will defiantly be moving in a few weeks so need my car for running around , trips to tip & clearing out etc. A lot has happened in the last week or so which I won't go into now but, I have come to realise there are more important things in this world than money.
I will no longer carry this burden on my own so I am getting out while I still can. My ex & I will then face the fallout together - we have agreed on that. I badly need a fresh start and , more than anything so do the kids. They had a great weekend away but both say they hate this house and want to move badly... An emotional few days for all 4 of us but we are all agreed. How big the shortfall will be I don't yet know & the MRS scheme may still be an option but am not banking on it. My health is more important to my children than everything else put together.
So all three of us all looking forward to a new start now
Once I know how bad the end ££ will be at least I can work out my options - I hope I can slowly pay everything off even if it takes me yearsI am a very determined person most of the time.
Used my 5p off petrol coupon this morning & have my vouchers/coupons ready to do my shop later - first proper shop in about 6 weeks !!
Right must get on with my work & do some surveys at lunchtime
Have a good day all.

Ah grasshopper, you take another step on the road to happiness and contentment.
It took me a long time to discover this. I lived in a house with two very good incomes and was very comfortable but not happy. I was persuaded to make a leap of faith and start again on my own. I have a lot less money at my disposal but I have a home I love, food on the table and no major worries.
I am happy and my life feels like the one I'm supposed to be living. I now know that 'things' are unimportant. I used to be able to indulge myself with all the trappings of what is perceived by many as a successful life. I don't do that any more and do you know what?
Nobody cares! :rotfl:
My friends are still my friends in fact they have all commented on how much happier I am and that they wish they knew the secret. :cool:I will no longer carry this burden on my own so I am getting out while I still can. Once you get moving and are settled somewhere else the trick is to find what contentment you can in what you have and in your friends.
Try to remember that it's not where you are, it's who you are and who you are with that matters.
When you are with friends having a drink it's the friends that are important not the location. You don't have to be in the trendiest wine bar in your brand new and expensive clothes spending a fortune you don't have to be happy.
It's just as good to be sat round the kitchen table drinking plonk out of cracked and mismatched tumblers.
I only occasionally go to my old haunts where a pint of decent beer cost nearly £4, something I've come to resent, the cost that is, not that I rarely go there anymore.
A pint in the village pub costs £2.50 and is better kept. I've even got my friends to change their habits somewhat, all it took was for someone to say "Hang on, why go there and pay through the nose, why not go to <insert pub name> instead" it seems they don't mind where we go either. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Masonn ... That was my favourite post so far
heartfelt thanks....
It's a pity it took me to be an emotional wreck to get here... But we got there in the endI suspect it was the thought of him being the one that would be left to pick up all the pieces that did it - but, at least he got there. I am quite a strong person really but I guess everyone has their breaking point
So , my first "saving" is to come up with a deposit. I reckon I need about £800 to be safe so that's what I am aiming for. Not strictly debt busting but, is vitally important as a first step.
I did my big shop at lunchtime - but cut £12 off what I had allowed .... So that's £12.00 / £800.00 :T
Feeling so positive about this now , I am ashamed to say I actually answered a call from cc company earlier threatening me with legal action etc I said " that's fine, once my house is repossessed and the vultures have finished fighting over it - you are welcome to whatevers left " and hung up !!! Poor girl was only doing her job , but I felt better for it
Right - back to work for a bit longer
Masonn ..... You are a star

You're very kind to say so.
It's true what they say, that when you hit rock bottom the only way is up. The only problem is that sometimes the road to rock bottom utterly destroys some people.
I didn't have to go through what you're going through. I was, as the song says, comfortably numb.
I've totally rethought my life and how I intend to live it. I no longer buy stuff because it's seen as fashionable or because I can, I only buy the things I need. Not only is it extremely liberating but it's saving me a fortune. :T
I spend my money carefully, it's better in my account than someone else's. In truth, my life has changed very little, what has changed is the amount of stuff in it.
You said in an earlier post that you have nothing of real value to show for years of spending. That's true of so many people, much of the stuff they own is either worthless or dropping in value by the second and a lot of it ends up not being used/worn or whatever after a short time simply because it has suddenly become yesterday's news or unfashionable.
You can do it, you know you can.;)One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Whilst I may be paying for past "mistakes" for a long time to come. The lifestyle changes that have come because of them can only be a good thing
Yummy dinner made, going to read my book tonight and chill - I have done as much as I can for now - it's in the lap of the gods know (or in this case the council and the mort company)
Life has been much more pleasant the last couple of days , like a burden has been lifted ......
Until I saw the amount of washing & the state of my house again ..... Grumble , grumble , grumble :rotfl:

Hi Coco, lovely to catch up and see how much better you're feeling. We spent the wet weekend in a tent, red weather warning on Friday evening but do you know, we had a fantastic time! All our friends, in a field, in our waterproofs and wellies, drinking wine and laughing.
As Masonn says, it's the people not the location that matters.
Have got slightly back into debt but due to having the boiler installed rather than spending on tat! Just couldn't bear (sp?) our lack of hot water any more! Have given myself 2 months to pay it off and will not add to it (I promise).
Enjoy the rest of the week and good luck with the school hols!Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Hi B
Your weekend sounds like fun !!! My kind of party !
Bad news about the boiler , but , 2 months to clear it is pretty good going
Shhh don't tell DM but I had to make some lists !! Though with the amount I have to get through in the next few weeks I feel it was justified

Coco I just wanted to say good luck for the start of your new life, I have been reading your thread from day one and am so glad you and your ex are going to share the debt and finally move on. I really admire the way you have dealt with everything over the last few months and wish you every happiness in your new home
