I could never make my mind up between George or Andrew so constantly swapped the posters around. Fell the same , if only I had suspected my decisions wouldl never have been so fdifficult to make at the age of 13 ish !! Loving the corny jokes, I will be sure to drop by with a wake up call if needed ! :D

Fingers crossed that you hear from the council.

How old is your youngest, Ive probably missed that bit along the way. My DD1 wasnt too impressed being told to walk or get the bus this morning. I do think that depsite going to school 20 mins away she thinks it really is my job as a mummy to still take her to and from school. I on the other hand I think she needs to take a little more responsibility on getting herself there and on time !! At slight loggerheads with this one I'm afraid !!! :rotfl:

Hope your day goes well xx

Ah thanks Sista & Pinot :)

Have heard from Council today - will update later but MRS is definately an option (if ex and Mortgage/Loan company agree - ex fine, not sure about other 2!!)
Its a very long process and will be scary because it only comes into play at the point of which they are looking to Repossess................

Anyway, Hope you all have good days :) And must catch on reading other diarys !!

Glad you've heard from the council and things are still looking positive.

    I've had a bu**er of a morning.

What should have been a quick errand to the bank turned into a 3 hour ordeal. Now that Dad is in a home, dementia, I've taken on the admin for Mum. Because they have money they are self funding so I set up a bank account solely for the care fees.

Mum wrote me letter authorising the transfer of funds from their savings to this account. I was informed by the 12 year old at the bank that this would be fine.

I nipped into town this morning and presented the letter which caused much consternation and head scratching. After much debate they decided that because of the amount in question they needed Mum to be there in person. Fair enough but I could have picked her up on my way in.

I then had to go to Mum's and get her then back to town with all the parking problems and then to the bank. A lot of faffing about but all sorted now.

Then I'm afraid I was a bad boy. Tuesday is flea market day. I haven't been for ages so I had a quick ankle round the stalls. I'll gloss over keeping tabs on Mum. Let's just say it was like herding cats and move on.

Unfortunately I spotted something to feed one of my habits. One stall had a couple of dirty looking silver pocket watches, I collect pocket watches.

You know how silver goes black, well these looked dreadful but underneath the crud they looked like they might be rather nice, the faces were cleanish and unmarked. One was a crown winder and was working but no idea what it keeps time like. The other was a key winder with no key so no idea if it works or not, it does run for a few seconds if shaken gently.

After a bit of haggling I got both for £80, a bargain.

Got them home and spent my lunch hour cleaning them up, they look fantastic! I even found a key for the key winder and they both run nicely and seem to be keeping good time although I think the key winder might be running a bit slow and need some adjustment.

All things considered the trip to town wasn't a complete waste :0)

Oh Coco wow what a few days you've had I only went camping to devon for a few days (just needed a break and was v cheap!) and everythings changed!

Firstly you are not weak in your dealings with the ex, you are dealing with the situation with what appears to be an ethereal dignity as always, sometimes when they're talking b*ll*cks its just not worth the fight I get the feeling he'll never see the situation for what it is! Does he realise you've given the creditors is address etc that may be a small wake up and will eat nicely into his promotion salary increase :rotfl: see there is a god....................

My kids think we must have been soooooo naive not to know about George (oh god I sound like Heav from eastenders talking about George like I know him!!!)

The offer of having the kids was just to unnerve you, you know if you can't cope I will etc etc at least he saw sense and recognised its actually him who couldn't cope :o TBH he's probably really jealous that you are managing so well without him on every front; house, money, children.

I'm glad things went well with CAB, eventually and that things are moving forward with the housing officer albeit slowly.

    Hi Chev :)

    It's fine honestly.
We have been through the money so many times - he knows the score. I think half the problem is he feels like he is giving "me" money ? It's all a form of punishment - I ended relationship so I can deal with the fallout - he appears to have forgotten what he put me through though .... Conveniently I might add :)
think you've hit the nail on the head here, how dare you leave him, you removed his control and he's fighting to get it back, good for you:T

A very busy day again today - I love going to work and switching off from all the problems , it keeps me sane :T
Did a couple of little surveys , organised my car so I should know the score by end of week , finally set up council tax direct debit and made a couple of money saving calls - so all in all , a good day !

Just be careful of using work as a too much of a distraction, been there and it is great but you still need proper you time, hope that doesn't sound preachy its not meant to:o

I think you're doing great, I get the feeling you need to know you've got all your bases covered before you go in for the kill but when your happy you've done all you need I'm absolutely certain the teenage you will be more than happy to flick the v's at the ex just like you did with the headmaster, obviously in your own inimitable dignified way :rotfl:

Oh and your boys will be fine so long as you are, just remember you've not put them in the position of choosing or taking sides and they are a credit to you in how they've dealt with it, they know they can be honest with you, even if its a bit uncomfortable for you sometimes its a true blessing and testimony to your parenting :A

I learned something really useful on the the successful debtors who have cleared their debt. It's a book called The Money Secret. After I saw that I ordered it from Amazon (second hand of course). It hasn't arrived yet but I've read the reviews. Nothing will surprise you I suspect, but will change your thinking/attitude towards money.

I wish you luck and congratulate you on your determination to get your finances in order. Still working on mine but getting there.

Masonn sounds like you have had a v busy few days !! I have visions of you hearding your poor mum around :)
I love the sound of collecting pocket watches , wondering who they once belonged to :)

Mag thanks for your lovely post :) its not so much going in for the kill - I am just not doing this anymore. There is so much emotional manipulation going on I can't tell you. Buts in unhealthy & I am not having it any more :D
Either he will come through or he won't. I want my life back now and if I have to go through a few weeks of tears & stress I will. Have a telephone appt with shelter on Friday - they can then formally request MRS from council & it's goes from there :)

My little car is now in & I wait for the phonecall so keep yours fingers crossed :T

Its an emotional rollercoaster that's for sure - I dont know how I am not sat in a padded cell :rotfl:

Cleared my car boot out & found pair shoes I bought for youngest still with tags on but they were too small so I just took them back and got £12 back :D they tried to give me credit but I wasn't having any of it - not in the mood to be messed with !!!

It's very difficult to see your parents like this. Dad ran his own civil engineering company for 45 years building houses, schools, colleges and other stuff like sewage and water mains. Mum was company secretary and did all the accounts. Now in her mid 80s she finds the thought of sorting out Dad's care home fees too much. :(

I like pocket watches because they're little machine from another age. I've got one from 1919 that keeps perfect time as does another that was made in 1889. One of today's finds is from 1927 according to the hallmark. I'm not sure about the other but it's older, probably Victorian but I need a better magnifier to see the hallmark.

I obviously have no idea what's wrong with your car or what the age, make & model is but there are things you should consider before making a decision.

Cars have never been cheaper than they are at the moment and labour is expensive. Then there' the cost of the parts. I hope it's nothing expensive and they can get you back on the road cheaply but if it's going to be hundreds of pounds you should have a look what you can get for the money it might be a better move.

Also ask the mechanic if he thinks anything else might be on the verge of giving up. Just a thought.

Also I'm pleased to see you still focused on the house problem. I've have no doubt you'll sort it out. :T

It must be very difficult situation with your parents - it's almost like the roles become reversed somehow. I am not surprised your Mum is finding it difficult.

Car , who knows :) but I have little money for repairs & no money for a new one so .... On the bright side - whilst I can't afford to lose weight - I certainly need to get fit so it may be Shanks Pony for a while as my grandad used to say bless him !

The last thing the chap from council said to me was - we still have options , and worst case - we won't see you homeless :)
I will have a better idea after Friday. The only thing is these things move soooooooo slowly. As he said - if they can't get me on the MRS , it will give me breathing space and time to find somewhere I want to be, when I am ready - so it's all good :)

Right , must clear up and see what the falling out upstairs is about ??!! I swear those boys could fall out with themselves in an empty room !
