    Morning All !!
It's been a few days since I posted - Sundays seem to be the only day I get 5 mins to myself :)
I have nearly made it through to Tuesday ( that's my weekly pay day !) am on fumes tomorrow (again) and about £5.00 to my name , but , everything is paid and all dd set up ready to go. I know exactly where I am now in regards to priority payments , arrears cleared , ccj payment set up etc etc , so at least I don't wake up with sick feeling which is nice !
Listed first item on eBay - nothing doing yet but 5 days to go - started without something small just till I get the hang of it ! Will keep you posted Hovel :)
Latest revelation ..... Omg my house is a ****hole !!!!! :(. Been sooooo busy worrying about money etc , everything else has gone to pot ! I am ashamed of how much I "think" about what needs doing rather than "doing" it !!! Need to get organised - if I can apply the same determination to sorting house that I am to sorting money , it should be fine !
It feels like my get-up-and-go , got-up-and-went , and flicked me the v's for good measure .... Ha ha ha :)
Right , best get on - report back later !

You need a list Coco! I am the lady of the lists :D

I'm a bit like you, single parent, working fulltime but with just the one child.

I go on the theory that if we're out all day the house can't get too messy . That's the theory though 2 mins after walking in the day my dd kicks off her shoes, leaves her coat lying on the sofa, empties her school bag....you get the picture.

I just do a little bit each night. Clean bathroom Wednesday, vacuum Thursday, washing done most nights, kitchen cleaned up after every meal, dusting when I feel like it (usually if we've got people coming round :o) ironing as and when and just make sure the place looks tidy before bed - far easier to keep on top of things that way. Can see what needs doing far more easily too!
It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :j

    Polesalot .... You are right - I do need a list !
One job a day will probably work for me - otherwise I run around like a headless chicken 1/2 doing 4 jobs & not actually finishing anything :)
Your energy levels never fail to amaze me - mop the floors before bed ??!! I wish I had the willpower you do !
Right , so cup of tea and make a list , going to start today while kids at dads.
My issue is when I get home 2 hours after kids & it looks like a bomb has gone off , then I don't know where to start .... So I don't :)
Maybe some bribery is in order there !
Meal plan is working so hopefully housework plan will too !

I admire you single ladies who are working full time....what happens with the kids in the holidays, also how do you keep up with the housework and cooking decent meals. I have 3 children on my own and i work mornings because of the housework and i hate it getting chaotic i also found i was no better financiallly working full time as all my taxcredits trailed off and so did the contribution towards childcare. Are you really better off working full time than part time being single
  • Well done all the non-ironers. Keep it up :D
And re: the corned beef. My gran also did 'This Little Piggy" with corned beef. Whereas my uncle, who was a butcher, always said roast beef. Different war time experiences I think :)

    Hi there !
I am lucky in that my 2 are 18 and 13 so I don't need to worry about childcare - tho I have worked full time since eldest was 1 so I know how tough it is.
    I don't & never have received credits/benefits so I can't really comment on that :)
As for food, use slow cooker a lot but we have always eaten late so boys tend to make themselves a sandwich after school & then I sort dinner when I get back but we rarely eat before 7 !
Polesalots the organised , house work girl .... I am not !!!
At the end of the day I figure that if the worse that happens is I don't Hoover up or iron everything then lifes not really so bad ..... Well that's what I tell myself anyway :)

My dd goes to a combination of my mum and dad's and holiday club during the holidays. It's not ideal but I don't have any other choice.

I don't get tax credits as my salary is too high, however that doesn't mean I am well off (although I appreciate that I am far luckier than some) besides, I enjoy working :)

I batch cook at the weekends and some of that we have during the week, but on the whole I menu plan and we do eat well during the week - I have a number of meals that I can cook for scratch and get on the table before 7pm. I would still love to be able to meet my dd from school and have a relaxed unhurried evening.

I'm organised because I have to be

I'm definitely better off working, not just financially but mentally too.
