That must be very irritating ! I think I need to have a laptop fund too :)
Been quite a good day , house relatively under control for a change (different story by time I get home tomorrow tho !)
Going to watch silent witness in a minute & get an early (ish) night.
Groceries came to £43 so not too bad really.

I try to save my £2 coins but in truth every time I have a spare bit of cash (:rotfl:) I put it in.

Actually I must change my signature because it is no longer a laptop fund - it is a bike fund :D

Hi there. Sorry to have been missing in action. Did you ever do an SOA on here? I did look at the start and couldn't see it, so sorry if I am being a bit thick!

You seem to be having waves of overwhelmed ness, this is to be expected. I hope that Debtline can help. This is the Debtline that offers free advice? Different free help organisations have different thresholds for being able to administer a DMP. So maybe you should plug your figures into the Debt Remedy tool online at CCCS?

If you are going to go it alone, with the advice from Debtline, then debts have different priorities and I thought it might help if I list them. Sorry if it is obvious.:D

    1) Mortgage and Secured loan. These need to be paid first.

    2) Council Tax. Over any other service or utility as they WILL bring bailiffs into it if you fall behind with payment. Are you entitled to council tax benefit now that you are single? Check on the entitled to website to see.

    3) Gas/Electric because they can cut you off. And broadband because you need to stay in touch.

    4) Water, phone, mobile phone.

    5) Overdraft

    6) credit cards/ loans/ loans to family. Note where I put these debts. Absolutely last after any other debt. Ok if you have family debts you may feel very uncomfortable putting them last, but hopefully they will understand that you need to keep a roof over you and your childrens house.....As for the other debts. You can send them a standard letter saying you are having financial difficulties due to family break up and here is a pound token payment until you work out your new budget.

Please please don't protect your ex. Please tell all his creditors where he is, along with your joint creditors, and the secured loan person. If he can take on a new lease car, then he can front up for these debts too.

Once you have done the CCCS debt remedy you can have a think about what you want to do regarding the debts. Don't jump into an IVA unless you are VERY sure that you can keep up the payments. If you fail in doing so, then your creditors can make you bankrupt, and your house maybe at risk....
    good luck

Hi Chev - many thanks for that, really helpful.
Sorry I do tend to ramble on and not make much sense !
Basically, mortgage & secured loan , council tax , utilities are all sorted now - it took a bit of tweaking but I think I have it covered - this has been my main priority to sort. Now elec/gas arrears are caught up (& in fact well overpaid !) my dd are set at sensible amounts.
National Debtline were great , but , I think I may go through CCCS forms as well just to see what they say.
I feel a little better now this is under control & May will tell me how manageable my budget is.
I cannot bring myself to pass on details of Ex yet , nor deal with the fallout that it will bring - its going to be hard juggling everything , but , even harder to walk away from house & all the hassle that will bring - it's a decision yet to be made.

I never did a full SOA - I was so concerned with mortgage etc I had to push everything else aside, but this will get done soon, there may just be a little room to start chipping away at unsecured.

I need to think very carefully about jt borrowing - it's fine to say it's half the exes to , but I can't force him to deal with it or pay half .... Still a work in progress !

Tbh , just sorting out the main worries has given me a big lift & at least I know noone is going to come & whip my house from under me - how long I can / want to do this 75% on my own is a different thing.

Anyway, sorry to waffle so much ! The overwhelmed moments are much less now & a whole lot less scary than they were :)

Thanks again - I will re-read your post & digest properly.

Hey no worries at all. Glad to here that you have the important bits covered, just about. As for the ex you have to do what is right for you, and for your family. If that is to keep stum for now then fair enough. It does seem unfair though that you are paying more than you should.....

:T:T Well done! I am ebaying like crazy, have promised the kids a trampoline and they're £99 in a£da so trying to cover it by selling the [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] unwanted treasure. Hopefully will get another £30 on the items finishing tonight then I've got more finishing Sunday. Feel so daft that in the past I have just given everything away.
