Hi All
I hope everyone is well?
After a long break, I am finally back. Have now moved house (love it). We are all settled and it's time to start againIt all happened very quickly, which in retrospect, was probably for the best & I am amazed that somehow, I pulled it all together.
I will update more tomorrow, I just wanted to let everyone know I am still alive! I am soooo broke after moving, but it's a good broke (if that makes sense ?) But things should get easier from next month so I can start dealing with everything and begin my new life 😊

Congratulations on the new house  We moved this year and relatively quickly too. Can't believe that this time last year we weren't even planning on moving! Love it here though.
We are broke too now but I'm enjoying the challenge of finding gorgeous things for the house on a budget. We were going to go to a boot fair this morning but oversleptCurrently eating our way through the freezer......It all helps
It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey1 -
Welcome back!0

Thanks for the welcome back
I have a day off today, first one since I moved and really looking forward to pottering! I still have some boxes to unpack but more or less settled now. I love it - quiet village, couple of nice pubs and a village shop. Boys both have friends here so it's all good :j
Best thing, I will be about £300 a month better off so at least I stand a chance of sorting myself out now! Funnily enough, it was something small that finally pushed me over the edge with the house. My oven/hob stopped working.... I couldn't afford to repair it. Then we had a problem with the heating .... I couldn't afford to repair it.
After several sleepless nights, and a heart to heart with the ex, we decided enough is enough. For my own sanity and so that we can have some kind of life. We had to let the house go. It will be months before it's all sorted and it definitely won't be easy, but, I do feel like a MASSIVE weight has been lifted off me. I haven't slept this well in years!!
Once we know what the final total we owe (or break even if we are lucky). I will be in a position to seek advice and actually start dealing with it. We will all be better off, it's weird, once the decision was made, the boys were brilliant and, to be fair, ex has been amazing , very supportive
As you can imagine , it all happened very quickly so I didn't have time to dwell on it which was good, and here we are.
I am annoyed that I let the situation go on as long as I did though as I have crippled myself for 2 years with nothing to show at the end of it, but hey ho, you live and learn I guess
Right shower and cup if tea, then it's on with these boxes, they won't unpack themselves!

Hi Coco,
glad things are still going well and that you're moving forward. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Mr T !!! Good to see you :j
Got caught short this morning as the landlord didn't tell me it was an electric meter!! All sorted now though and although it may be a bit more expensive , I think I would prefer not to have a bill .... See how it goes - just need to be organised.
Had a lovely day pottering yesterday and only 3 boxes left to sort out. Didn't get up until 9am but was laid in bed reading the forums. Also did my budget for next month , it would actually be very manageable if I didn't need to mot my car.... Typical!! At least next year it will be budgeted for
It's housework today (not that it needs doing, I am just enjoying keeping on top of it .... Not sure how long it will last though :rotfl:)
Have a good day all xThe final chapter - £4893 to go out of £30K0 -

Hey Mag
How's it going? I will happily come and do your housework :j
I find cleaning quite therapeutic tbh , helps clear my head.
Well first month of my new slightly easier , budget and guess what? Had a problem with my brakes and needed an mot, dropped car off Friday evening , they rang yesterday evening .... All in, it's going to cost £550 ..... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I have to have it done as I need the car for work - not sure how I am going to pay for it though ...... Grrrrrrr. Just when I think things are starting to level out. Will give this some thought later.
Quiet day here today , youngest at his friends and no car so just pottering and will do a roast later. And a bit more housework
I need to do my budget later though it's going to look dreadful once car bill comes out. About £400 for a five week month, of which £200 will be petrol, new uniform and eldest birthday as well ......
Anyway, it's Bank Holiday so will worry about it on Tuesday.
Time for a cuppa and some toast

Mr T !!! Good to see you :j
Much has happened since you were last on here.
A friend of mine at work took early retirement, I was jealous! The day after he told me he was going I was in a meeting in London and all I could think about was how great it would be not to have to work when I should have been thinking about servers and databases. Something that rather took me by surprise as I loved my job.
I decided to talk to the pensions people, mainly so I could stop tourturing myself, and their response was not what I was expecting. It turned out that I could retire if I wanted to and with a good pension!
Couple that with the fact that the company was offering two years tax free salary as part of an early retirement package and it was a no brainer.
So at 55 I retired. :T:T
I am now a gentleman of leisure and loving every minute. I bought myself a narrowboat and have had some great adventures. I've been up to the Isle of Skye for a couple of weeks to stay with friends and swim with dolphins.
After 18 months I still smile at the thought of all my old work coleagues sitting at their desks while I'm out and about enjoying my life. :rotfl:
I know that I've worked hard to pay for my retirement but I still feel lucky that my pension has survived the various politicians efforts to ensure that we all work until we die.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Mr T , that sounds lovely
My parents retired recently and seem to be super busy, whenever I call, they have just got back from here, just going there, they don't know how they found time to work!
A narrow boat sounds like fun, and a very peaceful way to see the countryside. Sounds perfect
The rate I am going ..... I should be able to retire when I am about 165 ...... A little way off yet :rotfl:The final chapter - £4893 to go out of £30K0
