Thanks A :) It's been a tough week but Thurs already tomorrow :j

Have not made it to Sains**** yet so had to buy "normal" tea bags ..... But not as nice - more expensive is not better in this case.

I have been doing lots of thinking this week , about money , about work , about life etc. My conclusion is that I don't like my life the way it is. So I just need to work out how to change it :) My friend gave me a book about de-junking your life ..... Some of its rubbish but some of it really made sense. I need a good spring clean - in my house and in my head !!!

Car ins due next month & I want to pay in full again so I must start shopping around for that via cash back of course !

I was glad to see earlier that I have been outbid for something on eBay. It was a want not a need and I regretted it as soon as I increased my bid - luckily, so the did the other person & they saved me wasting £25 :D

So an hour of tv rubbish then bed ! Hard day at work tomorrow with 2 quite intense meetings to get through !

    Hi Coco.

It's all about contentment, if you can get what makes you content settled in your mind then it becomes easy.

It's something I often think about, yesterday being a good example. I had to go to London yesterday and while I was on train I stated thinking about life and happiness etc. I'm not sure at what point in my life it happened but at some point I simply stopped craving 'things'.

I buy what I need rather than competing with my peers in that game of life, devised and encouraged by manufacturers, that tells us "He who dies with the biggest house, most expensive car and the most toys wins"

Since parting from my ex I've built a new life, I have a comfortable apartment that doesn't have more bathrooms than people living in it. I stopped upgrading my car, true I have nice one but I own it and as long as it is reliable I'll keep it rather than chasing a newer model.

In reality nobody really cares if you don't have the newest and latest of everything. What they will care about is how you manage to be so happy and cheerful when all about you are miserable!

I have friends in huge houses who are worried about the value dropping, about the cost of heating them and lighting them. They worry that their Merc or BMW is getting old and how they're going to afford to upgrade and why aren't I bothered that my Merc is old?

They are still trying desperately to cling to a lifestyle that has resulted in disaster for so many.

I've lost count of the times, after a few beers or glasses of wine, that I've been asked "How come you're so happy when the world is falling apart?"

I think that Mr Micawber got it spot on David Copperfield when he said.

"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."

Once you get your finances sorted and find that piece of mind that comes with the realisation that life doesn't revolve around 'stuff' then you'll be content and life will look much better and, like me will look at people differently wondering why they put themselves through such anguish all for the sake of 'stuff'.

Hmm...... aren't we feeling philosophical today. Sorry. :o
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

Mr T what an inspiring post - and so so true :)

Thing is , I don't crave things, I think it's peace of mind I am after ? It's this constant worry that I need to get past really .... Stop looking for the bad things. Dare I say it - positive thinking :)
    That's what I am working on :T

My house feels "grubby" and I don't like it !! Have a clear day today as ex not here till tomorrow.... And I WILL get all housework done !!! It's been a mental work week and I seem to have skidded through the week so I need to get back on track before next week. My job is very stressful during spring/summer as its the busiest time but the knock on effect is that things get out of control here so I want to avoid that this year :)

Cup of tea then I really must get out of my pjs :D

Did quite well with my "free" sat yesterday :) hoovering, tidy etc so today will be change beds and sort all laundry etc.

Made a little list for busy days as its a bit of a mental week coming up. Did a roast last night which worked well then caught up on tv with a glass of red
Rumour has it that ex is buying a takeaway tonight on behalf of the boys - that suits me :D

Have been using my shopping list notepad (one of the long thin ones) as a spending diary this month. So each day I write a list of to dos including shopping if needed then keep a running daily total but rather than throw my list out , it's all there so I can see exactly what I bought when which is working well. Meal planning doesn't seem to work too well in this house as plans seem to change all the time. But buying only what I need (when I know what all 3 of our plans are) is working well - with staples in the cupboard just in case!

Must investigate when car ins due and start looking at that. Also look at gas & electric. I would really like a monthly "exact" bill but not sure if they do that.....

Right shower then on with the day :)

You spend far too much of your life either doing housework or worrying about doing housework. Can you think of ways round this?

Hi Bess .... I guess the only way is to stop doing both :D

Mr T Double length value toilet roll is great !!! Another one for the convert list :)
My washing machine was making a horrible noise last night so I was trying to ignore it ..... My dishwasher was making an awful noise too so trying to ignore that too. Although the dishwasher was my youngest so slightly harder to ignore :rotfl:

Lots to get done and its free listing weekend so must get cracking ... Back later to update :)
