I am just trying to get back on a OS style after years of working full time plus and being an expert at 10 minute dinners. Hence some of my things are really past their sell by date - a bit like me at times!

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?

When we used to go to my Mum & Dad's I could never come home empty handed, she had always bought something, she either "didn't like" B1G1F, picked up the wrong thing, etc. normally though they had been bought for us. We didn't need it latterly (in the early days it was a god send), but it made her feel helpful, and as it didn't impact their living style (they had a really good pension) it was kinder to accept than refuse.

I am sure you aren't, mine are also the pre OS times, weird things like bean meals etc which were on offer at the time, usually bogof, tried one, hated it, left the other :rotfl: I'm doing a cupboard sort next week, the dogs will enjoy it as any 'disliked' foods they get :)

Crazychik I'd have left him to DP but he's stil not back from York, not expecting him for an hour or so and couldn't stand the smell any longer. DS is just writing his birthday card out now, pleased he's away as I forgot to get one (not the crafty type myself) Just reminded me I must go close the car windows before bed, I left them open to 'air' it out.

Kyle we always warn people the kids get up early if they stay over, only polite to warn them they will be bounced on very early :rotfl: if it's DPs brother and they have both been out having a few beers the night before I sent them down to wake him, how nice of me :rotfl:
One day I might be more organised...........

Hi All! having been away for halfterm up on the Norfolk coast with no internet connection I've really missed reading this thread! Sadly, asthma and a nasty chest infection meant it wasn't quite the refreshing break we'd planned, but hey, can't have everything! Caught up with some old friends not seen in nearly twenty years, which was great. Anyhow, the WM and TD have both worked flat-out but have now caught up.
have discovered that my weight has scaled new heights, so must try to do something about that now...
Love to all having a tough time.

    Evening :hello:

Today has been relatively productive. I've cleaned the kitchen, unpacked a couple more boxes that were still sitting around from when I moved here, collected (with help from Dad's Taxi Service :D) my new dining chairs which I have since put together, and (thanks also to Dad) I now have a coat rack on my hallway wall which means I don't have to hang my coat over the top of the living room door any more :o

Now am feeling a bit depressed again :o and feeling guilty again because other people have worse problems than mine and THEY are doing OK :(

I need to eat up my final portion of butternut squash soup (LOL I originally typed "butternaut" - is that somebody who journeys through outer space searching for dairy products? :rotfl:) before it goes off. I still might get around to doing a batch of curried parsnip soup too (the recipe off the OS recipe thread) - does it matter if I use curry powder instead of paste?

Tomorrow I need to phone up the Stamp Duty office AGAIN, they still think I owe them money because they don't have any record of any of the information either I or my solicitor have sent them to prove that I don't owe them anything:wall: :wall: :wall: - I really hope I get it sorted this week. Anyway at least I have a short working week to look forward to - I am only working till Thursday lunchtime as my mum is coming to stay for the weekend :j :j and we have a jam packed schedule lined up. We want to go to Kew Gardens on Friday, anybody have any idea how we might get a discount? (Neither of us are concessions.)

Big ((((hugs)))) to anybody who needs them, especially Ticklemouse, SnowyOwl and Penny-Pincher!! - and get well soon Queenie!

    Have a nice evening

    Rzl xx

Have managed to give the bathroom a bit of a spit and polish, towels and floor mats to go into the WM and it will be perfect in there!

WM is on it's 2nd load, TD is now on too and hopefully no ironing! Not that I do much of that anyhow. Ha!

Flatmate has just put American Idol on the box, so I may go off and clean the kitchen or maybe just a kitchen cupboard which is looking filthy... might not though!

Think I have achieved quite alot cosidering that I have also been to work today... deserve a cuppa and 9pm show of Lewis!!!

Editted to say that I did both the cupboard and the kitchen. WM is on 3rd load of the day and DW now on...

Queenie - sounds like you and I have had the same lurgy hun?

It's taken me until today to post as I got absolutely no sleep last night until 7.45 am! Then DH came home at 9am and woke me, I promptly fell asleep again until 9.48 and ran downstairs feeling so guilty. The poor devil had had to stay up with DD as he just couldn't get me to wake up properly.

I do just feel very tired now so hopefully that is from last night and I will wake up tomorrow feeling like my normal self. I'm going to post the Flylady thread tonight and then it will be off to bed for me :D

Hello everyone. Hope all is well. Not been on for a few days, we've been in a cottage in Wales for a week, and had a lovely relaxing time. Hope I didn't miss too much! Today DH has been to a VW show, and I've been in the garden with DS (5) just a bit of tidying and cutting back.
Got in about 3.30pm and didn't know what to do for tea, but found some spag bol in the freezer, so made some tortillas to have with it, and tried a recipe from the latest Good Food mag - sticky date and ginger pud. Everything was delicious. Just been writing a letter of complaint to Debenhams - but that's a whole different story!
GTG already, DS's crying and saying his knees hurt, sounds about right for the first day back at school tomorrow!!
