OS daily thread Sunday 18th Feb 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 18th 2007 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi everyone,

This is a first - I'm not usually up at this time of the morning. I have been to bed but had to get up because of terrible heartburn:mad: . We went for a meal to celebrate DD's birthhday (early) and although it was lovely it seems to have disagreed with me. Perhaps it was DH and I realising that we had been visiting the place for 25years (it's an old pub with a restaurant) and although it's changed over the years we have never had a bad meal there.

Anyway I've put a load in the WM and cleaned the kitchen and my stomach's feeling a bit better so I'll go back to bed in a moment.

Plans for the day - finish the week's laundry and vacuum house, then in the afternoon I have to attend the Civic Service (a work thing) which is annoying.

Morning Sue :hello: and everyone to follow

I can't sleep, which is incredibly annoying as I've only just got back to my own bed! We had a lovely week in the Lake District and only wish that we were still there now. :) We spent some lovely days walking, with some glorious views. DH now wants to get a job up there/slightly closer than we are now!

We got back to find that the estate agents had put a massive, bright yellow "For Sale" sign outside our sitting room window. The price is definitely prohibitive for us, which is silly as it's just a shoe box (or rabbit hutch, as my mum calls it! :D). The estate agents have got 7 viewings lined up for next Saturday morning, so I will make sure that I'm out of the way. I'll ensure that the Estate Agent mentions to any potential buy to let purchaser that we're willing tenants!

Unfortunately, we'd just returned from our hol - ok, so we'd been back for 30 mins - when someone knocked on the door, wanting to look round. Apparently, they had been told by the estate agent that they might be able to look round it that afternoon. DH told them to go away and return 3 hours later, but he swiftly phoned the EA. Luckily, the EA managed to get hold of them and tell them that next Saturday would be the first time for everyone, which left this woman muttering about tenants shouldn't stand in the way of a sale. The EA managed to correct her on tenants' rights. :p

I've done my meal plan for the week, which looks quite healthy AND it uses up alot of freezer bits and pieces, so I can do a bit more bulk cooking!

How did the London meet go? Did you miss me :D? Are there any photos?

    Bye for now.

Hi Vicky and Snoozer, and hello to everyone to follow

I too am having a sleepless night...and no wonder...I had a "duvet day" yesterday...didn't really want to venture outside at all so indulged in a day of doing absolutley nothing except reading or sleeping. Oh and eating...can't forget eating....

The result is of course that the house is a shambles, really needs a good clean. I haven't done any washing either, so gotta sort out my work uniform early today so that it's dry in time for Monday. I'm still hanging onto my job for now, though I feel it's by my fingernails. I had a run in with one of the supervisors who has gotten into a habit of letting me stay on the till beyond my clock out time. I was less than polite to her and I fully expect her to go to the dept manager about it (I'll be less than polite to her too if she tells me that I am supposed to work on beyond my clock out time because somebody else is late!!!).

NiteRider...I hope your mum is being looked after and getting the care that she needs. And congrats to your OH too on her promotion - hope she gets a massive payrise too!

Big hugs to anyone who might need them...and I know lots of you do...I may not post very often any more but I do read regularly and send postive thoughts to everyone.

    Happy Sunday everyone

Morning. I think I ate and drank too much last night, that always seems to make we wake up early. Today is a good feeling, mainly cos Plymouth won in the FA cup yesterday. I also managed to find some more stock for e-bay at a good price, so I can keep my holiday fund going strong I hope.
I always panic when I have not got anything else left to sell and then panic when I buy something in case it does not sell...... Oh well. It always seem to work out Ok in the end.
Church today, followed by roast pork with the family coming around. The kids will be hungry as they are doing a 24 hour fast to raise money for charity. They are are sleeping at the church so it's quiet about here.
Should be a nice day, and even better as I have the next 2 days off too.
    Well have a nice day
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

I still have a huge pile of washing to get through today and then the ironing
I also need to make cakes and stuff for lunchboxes next week the bm needs to go on it's sounding a bit sick making funny noises so may have to resort to doing it by hand and I don't have any spare money at the mo to get another one I do keep an eye on freecycle but nothing so far
I've got to tidy the front garden and the kids can plant some flower seeds I got the other day
    have a lovely day

    Good Morning Everyone!
Welcome back Vicky - sorry to hear of the nasty shock you had when you got home. I have to say you're dealing very well with it!
Snowy ((((hug))) to you... in fact a great big ((((cwtch)))) for you (a much warmer, cosier welsh hug ;))

Not sure what to do with myself today.... The kids are off for the week, and they're obsession with play staion/nintendo etc is getting to me. They are so reluctant to do anything other than play on these - especially if I suggest they do something outdoors. It would be nice to take them for a nice walk somewhere - but I'm back to that stage where anything physical leads me to fall asleep for the afternoon. When I made that cake the other day it took me ages because while creaming the butter I kept losing strength and then sensation in the hand I was using to stir.... really strange.
Got some lamb left from yesterday to make some soup for lunch, no idea what's for dinner.....
Hopefully pick back up later and rejoin you all when I'm feeling a bit more positive....

  • Morning Guys!

Got back late yesterday afternoon as sister is quite bad and I felt so sorry for her. Kids were good but the things they are used to doing was so expensive...thank goodness mum and her paid. We did treat them to a KFC though:rolleyes: She is very sore and was an emotional wreck and I was in tears too alot of the time:eek:    ...Im a qualified counsellor but when its family, its totally different.....poor kid!

Couldnt go round nephews as he has bad flu, so we have put off till next week. DD had a friend over instead and I am so knackered! They are good but not quiet:D ...back to school tomorrow;)

2 washloads done, DW needs emptying and the place is generally clean and tidy. Washing may be put on the line if it becomes more sunny. Toilet is clean too.

Have got a chicken and a beef joint out(beef joint has been in freezer a while, so thought I would bung in the SC and have in sarnies or a pie:confused: )-am cooking for out-laws this week so could possibly stretch to them:D . Will have a full roast today and enough to stretch the chicken for at least a curry for 5 servings;) On the way home yetserday we stopped at a farm shop and bought 3lb carrots, cauliflower (huge), 3 parsnips, 3lbs apples, 1lb sprouts and plums and it cost £2.50 and all grown at that farm-shame its not nearer.

    Breakie: Porridge
    Lunch: Sarnie
Dinner:Chicken/Beef, roaasties, new pots, parsnips, yorkies, cauliflower, carrots and sprouts:o

Anyway, Im mumbling-so will say tata. Hugs to all.

    Morning everyone.
Its a lovley sunny morning here, so no chance that ds1 footy match will be off, i get so worked up about this one as ds1 will get lots of grief at school if they dont win as alot of his school pals are in the other team. We won them away but today is a home match, so my shouting voice is ready!!!

Having chicken dinner for lunch and then just picking for tea, kids not back at school untill tue.Not got much else planned, apart from help kids with their websites which i enjoy doing.

    Have a great day all
