I'm not far from Bluewater :). On the Kent wedding facebook group everyone has been moaning about it saying it wasn't very good and I know if I start going to wedding fairs I will be tempted to start booking all sorts of things so I am tending to stay away :rotfl:.

More than happy to tell you what I am paying but some of my flowers are quite specialised so not sure it will be massively helpful?

    My flowers are as follows:

2 x 50cm concical vases with the bases filled with oranges/lemons and limes with a large tropical arrangement of bird of paradise flowers, orange lillies and cerise gerberas, completed with palm leaves and tropical foliage. They will stand on mirror plates and have shells scattered around the base. These were £80 each.

1 x 30cm conical vase with the citrus fruits and the same flowers as above (for the cake table). This was £60

1 x Large fish bowl with cerise gerbera, orange lillies and orange celosia and aspidistra leaves wrapped around it.

And then I have 6 fish bowls filled with gerberas - 3 pink and 3 orange, all standing on mirror plates and these were £25 each.

All in, it came to £400 plus a small set up fee.

I am sure they would have been a lot cheaper if I had gone for 'normal' flowers but I know the BoP's are pretty pricey and the flowers are the one thing I wanted to push the boat out on because at least I can take most of them home to enjoy afterwards.

I haven't even looked at my to-do list recently :o

Mine are £800....so it has helped at least in confirming that yes mine are v expensive

But it depends what you are getting for that! If I had my big ones on every table for a formal reception it wouldn't be far off and that's without bouquets!

I do think flowers really make an impact though :D

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Yeah....that includes my bouquet, three bridesmaids bouquets, pew ends, a pedestal arrangement, buttonholes, corsages, ten table arrangements and one top table arrangement. Ok, it's quite a lot!

  • Hello everyone!

I've been lurking a lot, but haven't posted in a while so thought I'd join in again.

We're currently working on our invitations which we will probably send out in October - for the 'plus ones' we will probably write '& Guest'. We're going to give the parents' their invitations early - they will need them to select their menu choices.

My sister is organising my hen do - for early March and her plans so far sound amazing.

We're visiting our venue again next weekend with FMIL & FSFIL.

    All very exciting!

Hope you are all enjoying your planning! :j

    Yay very exciting!

Glad I'm not the only one sending invites out early. It may end up being more like November than October, but...(I know this sounds awful) I want to get RSVPs back and have enough time to send out a 'second wave' of invitations to the whole day if people RSVP no. It's difficult because most of my family live quite far away so I really don't know if they will or will not be able to come, but I figured if I hold off sending out the evening invitations until the RSVPs for the day have come in, I can bump some people up and it will still be early enough that they won't realise they have been bumped up...if that makes sense!

We're sending them out early to beat the Christmas congestion with Royal Mail!

I'm glad your dress has arrived - mine is due in November/December...
  • I think we're hoping to send our invites late October/early November as well so they don't get lost in amongst the Christmas post. We'd like to know what food we're serving before sending them as I think my OH really wants pork and I'd like to give people the option to go veggie if they want (I'm not a big meat eater so I like to know in advance if possible).

Daisy, do you mind sending me your florist info - is it the recommended one? I've had a quote for over £1,000 which I personally think is way too much since I didn't really have any specific requirements so happy for her to use whatever is in season.

We had free tickets for the Bluewater wedding fair but after reading a few things about it we decided to skip as it didn't seem worth the drive.

    Hi wedding twin ;)

    We've gone with Elegant Stems - http://www.elegantstems.co.uk/.

They were recommended to us by someone who got married last year and they were so lovely when we met them...a mother and daughter team, very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend them! It still came out a bit more expensive than we wanted and we had to sacrifice a couple of things and even then it's still £100 over budget, but we just decided to go with it.

Do you know when you're likely to have your menu tasting? I'd quite like to get it sorted out soon too but I don't think they plan to do it until 2 months before the wedding...also, I wonder what effect it will have with the main wedding coordinator lady going on maternity?!

ME TOO to both of these things :)

Also, really glad people think my "done" list is good, I keep panicking that we haven't done very much!!

But then our venue is very all inclusive i.e. no caterers, wine etc to arrange as it's all covered.

I really need to get making the invites now though!!
