Hey guys!
I'm cheating a bit but our March 2013 thread is so quiet I'm going to gatecrash a little bit...hope that's ok. I'm 23rd March
On the honeymoon question we're thinking Florida, but probably in May.
I think we'll let you - more the merrier!
We're doing a DisneyMoon in Florida in August. Our honeymoon proper is in Jamaica. Very excited about both :j0 -

Yay welcome cats! I think we should invite all the March people along because then llaurablue, my wedding identical twin, could join too
Faith and jtr - in my humble opinion, Vegas is DEFINITELY worth going to (and, if you're me, retuning to as often as possible!) even if you don't like gambling - I never gamble but still love it there. LA, on the other hand, I wouldn't bother with again. The only positive it had for me was a lovely beach, didn't really think much of it apart from that.
Jtr, I am so jealous of your Maldives adventures! It looks amazing for honeymoon but we couldn't find flights that weren't astronomical0 -
Happy weekend everyone!
Welcome Cats, feel free to come and join in as the others said! I should probably do half of my posting on the May thread as our party is when we get back from honeymoon in May but hey, I like it in here :rotfl:
I know what you mean Daisiegg about the flights, the Maldives is one of the only destinations I know where it pays to book anything in peak season as early as possible. I've already sent a few emails out about April 2014 for our first anniversary (yes, I know it's crazy but I want a specific island!). I am sure Mexico will be just as amazing, did you book LB resort?
My florist quote came through last night, she sent it in a lovely little cardboard folder with a label saying 'our wedding flowers', I am such a sucker for the little details like that. Happy with 90% of it and need to try and change one part I think, just going to see if I read it right to start with! When I told OH the price as they are now he went chuffing hell, but when I reminded him that the whole wedding is still costing around £4k he changed his tune and told me just to have them if I wanted them
OH mentioned the caracaturist to his mum last night and out of everyone, she was the one I expected to tell us it was a waste of money and do the whole 'what's the point of that?' but apparently she LOVED it and has got all excited :rotfl:. Most surprising!
Not sure what's going on my with my artificial flower lady, she said about a month ago that she had a few orders to do and then would contact me to arrange a meeting and I haven't heard anything? I hate having to chase people when I am the one spending money so will give it a few more days and then ask if she has forgotten me? Also waiting to hear from cake lady about making an appointment but I know she is very busy next week.
Just need to get the ribbon for my invites and a new glue gun to try making sweet trees again but I think I will have to give wedding-related things a rest for a while as work will be crazy from 1st Oct through to Dec and I have my last ACCA exam in Dec too. Hopefully getting my shiny new car next month and I really can't wait :j, got to go and test drive one next weekend just to check I like the inside and the way it drives but if that goes ok we will be placing our order at the beginning of October and hopefully it will arrive within 2-3 weeks. Have had my car for 7 years because I had to go onto a debt management plan and it's really just falling apart now - rusty, heaters don't work, interior bits hanging off and it won't pass another MOT which is due in January so it's definitely time to move on :rotfl:

Florist dropped the price by £30 to meet my budget which was very nice of her, happy with that

Yay! Tell me if this is too nosy but what has it come in as? We tried to get ours as cheap as possible but I still feel it's bloomin (hehe!) expensive.
In terms of the flights, it doesn't help that my bl**dy fianc! (love him really!) won't fly economy for any flight over 4 hours. Otherwise we could probably have done it. Stubborn man.
Still, Cancun should be amazing - yes we booked Le Blanc Spacan't wait! I really had my heart set on it....on its own website it doesn't look any more special than other resorts like Sandals ones etc but the tripadvisor reviews are just absolutely amazing.
Went to the wedding fair at Bluewater in Kent (is it in Kent? Dunno!) yesterday evening with my best friend/bridesmaid. It was quite fun although not hugely useful for me now as I have got most things sorted, but still nice to be in the weddingy atmosphere. And the free glass of champagne was good
And may I just mention again....MY DRESS IS IN THE SHOP?!?! :rotfl: I am reluctant to go and try it on because I feel really fat...I can't remember what my weight was when we went and bought it and if I'm more or less than that now, but I am losing weight at the moment so I might give it a bit of time before I go try it on. I don't think my self esteem could cope if I tried it on and it was too small!!!
So what is left on our list is really...- Pay remaining dress balance and try dress on, arrange adjustments and fittings etc
- Arrange to meet with the priest - the church said November
- Give notice...should probably do this at some point!
- Book dressmaker to do slight adjustments on two of the BM dresses
- Sort BM shoes
- Sort out my veil, jewellery, undies
- Contact hotel to remind them about my allergies and arrange meeting with chef
- Contact local hotels about accommodation for guests
- Men's suits
- Rings!!!
- Write and send out invitations once mum has finished making them...she is doing an amazing job so far!
- Make the top tier of wedding cake, will probably do this when I make my Christmas cake
- Meet with the venue stylists to pick chair covers and look at backdrops, etc
- Book hair and make up trials
- Practice making biscuit favours and, eventually, actually make them!
- Try to find scatter pearls (not essential but would like them!)
- Keep looking for the best priced string of pearls for my sister's maid of honour gift
- Do gift list
- Finish wedding website
Well...I thought my list was tiny now but apparently not! Oops!0 -
I'm not far from Bluewater
. On the Kent wedding facebook group everyone has been moaning about it saying it wasn't very good and I know if I start going to wedding fairs I will be tempted to start booking all sorts of things so I am tending to stay away :rotfl:.
More than happy to tell you what I am paying but some of my flowers are quite specialised so not sure it will be massively helpful?
My flowers are as follows:
2 x 50cm concical vases with the bases filled with oranges/lemons and limes with a large tropical arrangement of bird of paradise flowers, orange lillies and cerise gerberas, completed with palm leaves and tropical foliage. They will stand on mirror plates and have shells scattered around the base. These were £80 each.
1 x 30cm conical vase with the citrus fruits and the same flowers as above (for the cake table). This was £60
1 x Large fish bowl with cerise gerbera, orange lillies and orange celosia and aspidistra leaves wrapped around it.
And then I have 6 fish bowls filled with gerberas - 3 pink and 3 orange, all standing on mirror plates and these were £25 each.
All in, it came to £400 plus a small set up fee.
I am sure they would have been a lot cheaper if I had gone for 'normal' flowers but I know the BoP's are pretty pricey and the flowers are the one thing I wanted to push the boat out on because at least I can take most of them home to enjoy afterwards.
I haven't even looked at my to-do list recently
Very happily married on 10th April 2013
