I started having one of the dreaded dress wobbles yesterday which was brought on by a dream I had where I had gone to my mums to try my dress on again and she gave me a totally different one from the wardrobe (which I hated) and I didn't know where my dress was!! :rotfl:

Started looking at a few on Ebay but haven't found anything else I like so I think that's a sign not to look anymore. We were going to make some adjustments to my dress anyway and I have had some good ideas :D.

Managed to get OH to write out a provisional guest list and we are within numbers although I was surprised at the number of friends he invited to the ceremony, considering he wanted to keep it small. I might be able to sneak a few extra of mine on there now ;)

Think I have finally decided on my invite design, won a kit of embossing powders on Ebay a few days ago so hopefully I can have a play next weekend and get some practice before I attempt to do the real things! The postman tried to deliver my photos, all 326 of them, but they were too big for the letterbox so I have to go and collect them. Some of them are for the little albums that are going with our centrepieces so I need to sort those out and put them all together.

Anyone else feel like time is just flying by? 7 months tomorrow!

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

  • Hi everyone!

I'm getting married to my best friend on 19th April 2013, and am STRESSED! Lol!

I've been having a read through the previous posts and love hearing/reading what you're all planning. Each and every one of you sounds like you have amazing plans so I hope it's okay for me to join in. :)

Welcome! Why are you stressed? It's exciting :D
  • Unfortunately I'm just a stressy person! I have lots of family problems (i.e. I want my mum to walk me down the aisle but have the dilemma of telling my dad... won't be having a top table... need to uninvite my sisters partner!!) and everything just seems to cost so much! :(

I keep trying to save but I always seemt o end up in my overdraft and I need to start paying off some of our suppliers. :(

Hi Little Stranger, I'm having my grandad walk me down aisle rather than my dad too. Luckily I never had to tell my dad as he never assumed he would be doing it. I was nervous that he might have been offended, but seeing as we've never had much of a relationship (no animosity though), he was surprised I even wanted to invite his side.

Saving is always hard. I know my outgoings have a habit of spreading to fit whatever income I have. I'm working hard on saving though, and I've been lucky to have some family contributions. I've found the budget tool on here really useful to help me realise what I'm spending and spot where I should be more sensible. Have you tried that?

    welcome thelittlestranger :)

I always thought I would be one of the most easing going brides ever before we got engaged but I've had my moments, largely due to OHs family . They say weddings bring out the best and worst in people and that seems to be true!

Had our meeting with the venue Monday night and am really pleased. Unfortunately they wouldn't less us have the room on a Friday or Saturday night because we didn't want a full buffet but I was originally looking at Friday the 3rd of May and then realised it was a bank holiday weekend so asked if we could have the Sunday and that was no problem :T.

So we have booked the room from 6pm so I can go in and decorate and the evening looks to run like this:

    7.30pm - Guests start arriving
7.45pm - Canapes (we have 150 being served, a mix of chicken satay, duck pancakes and salmon with lime creme fraiche) and bowls of Olives.
8.00pm - We will cut our wedding cake and my brother will do a little speech
    8.15pm - Background music starts
9.00pm - Platters of Asian fare, mini fish and chip/mini burgers and chips, charcuterie and a Veggie board come out.
9.30pm - Cake is served alongside big boards of cheese and biscuits with grapes and celery.

The venue co-ordinator is so lovely and going back there and having another meal confirmed we have 100% made the right choice. Fortunately the caracaturist was also able to move the date and I have paid the deposit today, he is doing an A3 colour signing frame for us which he will bring on the night and then 2 hours live drawing but will stay as long as needed.

Giving notice in the morning, that was a drama in itself. OH never changed his bank account from his mums and tried to do it and get statements printed today for proof of address and they said it updates over night so they couldn't do the statements! The copy of the electric bill never arrived and we have nothing else within 3 months. Phoned the registry office and they said a payslip/medical letter would be fine, phew, we have that! Then I decided I should check my decree absolute was where I thought it was so asked OH to look in the file and it wasn't there . Vaguely remembered looking at it while I was at my desk and a search of all my trays at 6pm revealed it in a plastic wallet, i was SO relieved!

Confirmed meeting with florist on Saturday and am really looking forward to that :)

Oh wow its great to hear from someone else who's dad is still around, if you get me, but is having someone else walk them down the aisle. I'm also worried about offending my dad - I don't have much of a relationship with him, but I do see him every month (just not like clockwork sort of thing) and my mum was the one who pretty much brought me and my sisters up, we just saw our dad every other weekend. Sorry - life story there!! But just is something I keep worrying about.

The budget planner tool is something I've not looked at! I really must find it and give it a go. :) Thank you so much!

I'm sooooooooo excited....last night we booked our honeymoon!!! :D

Six nights in an amazing all inclusive adults only five star resort in Cancun, Mexico, on the Caribbean...business class flights...leaving on the Tuesday so we have a couple of days to relax after the Saturday night wedding...apart from the fact that it's only 6 days and not 6 months(!) it couldn't be more perfect!!!

I cannot stop smiling and am ridiculously happy and excited! :j:j:j:j:j

I seem to have lost all enthusiasm atm.

I think it's cause OH is away now & living in Reading so I don't even feel like a proper couple plus it looks like we will be living a part for anything up to 2 years after the wedding :( (what a rubbish way to start married life)

I just feel totally fed up with it all & actually getting sick of people asking me questions about it all the time.

Also I was meant to be away this week sorting wedding things out but OH had to cancel due to work commitments so i'm totally pee'ed off!

Please tell me that this is all normal lol

Aww Faith it must be so hard :( is it for work reasons?

I think it is normal to feel a bit like that. At the moment, although I'm excited about the honeymoon, I feel totally 'can't be bothered' about actual wedding planning.
