lil_miss I'll get BM to send me an updated pic and put it on here. I'm also looking into hiring a full size Tardis but I can't get a quote till 6 months before
I don't feel organised lol just feel like it's a never ending list for everyone task I get rid of it feels like another 5 appear.
I know what you mean I went to two hen dos this weekend. I found it really hard as people were asking me about mine and I didn't think it was fair to discuss mine at someone elses hen do. So I just said everything was up in the air atm and we hadn't decided much.First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Well, I have been a busy bee! On my way to London on Wednesday I wrote a huge list of all the things I need to do and today re-organised it into 4 sides of A4, split into:
1) Things to buy or pay off
2) Things to book/meetings to have/deposits to pay
3) Things to make/design/decorate or decide
4) All other items
Actually scared myself with all the little things I keep thinking of :rotfl:. Managed to do quite a bit this week, got the little photo albums to go with our holiday themed centre pieces, bought the remaining vases and sand I needed for the same things, got ribbon for invites, bought sliders and pearls for invites, picked up a wedding post box, some wicker hearts, a pearl bracelet for DD and some more ribbon. The caricaturist is holding our planned reception date for us and I have three meetings in the space of one week next month - the reception venue, giving notice and then the fresh flower lady. Then I need to message the cake lady and arrange to meet with her.
My model palm trees made it from China and are pretty darn awesome, I also got some mini chalkboard on sticks for £1 each from local craft/homey store, have ordered a personalised ribbon and some wired hearts for decoration. Need to make my mind up on my own jewellery, but I know it needs to have pearls as that's my current obsession :rotfl:. Found a nice bracelet in Claires accessories but know I will get it cheaper on Ebay!
Have had a chat with OH about what he is going to wear and fortunately he was happy with my [STRIKE]rules[/STRIKE] thoughts of no black and no suit jacket, suits always remind me of interviews or funerals and he has a lovely figure, I think a suit jacket will just bulk him out, he, best man and my brother are all happy with the idea of trousers, shirts and waistcoats :T. Also found some great gift ideas in local sweet shop, they make completely edible shoes and can replicate anything they have a photo of, they also do candy bouquets which would be perfect for the best mans girlfriend who is doing our hair, she's a chocoholic!
Think I have managed to work out that I will stay at mums the night before as she has so much extra room there, my best friend has offered to come and cook us all breakfast in the morning and will do all the running around, he almost made me cry with his kindness after certain members of OHs family have had me in tears with their rudeness!
Also got my brother his cufflinks, they say 'brother of the bride', my friend gave me a set for the Groom and Best Man!
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

Omg jtr you make me feel super duper behind lol :rotfl:
I bought my wedding ring today, the only downside is I want to wear it now, if your on pinterest add me yayamally and you will be able to see it. I don't wear jewellry normally and was only looking, but fell in love with a lovely simply yellow gold band with a few wee diamonds in it. I didn't want an engagement ring so had nothing to match it with, was super easy, and OH isn't wearing a ring so it uped my budget :j
I still haven't ordered my bridesmaid dresses as I was trying to locate them closer to home in NI and cheaper but I can't so I'm ordering them in Galway ROI and hoping the exchange rate to Euros will help bring the cost down.
Still can't find shoes I like so still on the hunt
Oh I made my invitations, I doctored the vistaprint large postcards, just waiting on them arriving to see if I like them. 50 of them for £3.86 all in :T again they're on my pinterest if your interested
I'll be back later with more time to catch up0 -
Just a very quick post, I am on holiday in the US (currently in Boston but coming home in two days, booooo
) and haven't really been reading but thought I'd just have a quick check - well done everyone on amazing progress!
Strangely I have got two wedding related things - found a really pretty pearl (not real of course lol) bracelet very cheap in a little boutique shop in upstate New York, and also got the guest book in the same shop. We weren't going to have a guest book, thinking they were a bit of a waste of money having heard from lots of people that they hardly get written in....but this one only cost twenty dollars, is elegant and understated and, best of all, all through it on alternate pages it has really great love quotes. We love it
Hopefully will be able to get honeymoon booked soon as OH has had his August bonus....and then the next big thing to sort is the rings.
I must get my head round an updated list when we get back home! Hope everyone is having a lovely summer and wedding plans are still going very well!0 -

Ooh, flowers are good. I've no idea how to make my own, but I've seen a bouquet I like now:
I think my MOH's one will be more expensive tho as she doesn't like flowers so will have to be full crystal - e.g.
I went back up north at the weekend - ended up meeting with a venue dresser who couldn't understand the concept of a non-formal meal in a venue without a wedding co-ordinator! Found another one nearby who does some cheaper, nicer things, so (after crashing a kids birthday party to measure table, bar and room sizes!) I'm having everything on this link lol
Still not sure how to cover up that bar and reception desk though- thinking of buying some fabric and clipping on using tablecloth clips - or maybe sticking lengths of shimmer curtain or...oh well.
My drinks voucher business cards from vistaprint came too:beer:
After seeing you had a pinterest board i decided i must get one!!!
I'm going back and forth on flowers. As we are getting married in Cyprus fresh flowers are expensive and it is near impossible getting a bargain and feeling in control. So i too, have started to look at artificial flowers. I love the idea of a brooch/crystal bouquet. It is just getting things at the right price now.
Your drinks vouchers are great. What a nice touch!!
Time is going so quickly now. I have gone from feeling super organised to panic!! Especially reading arious peoples do/done lists.
Still in negotiations with our reception venue in Cyprus to ensure a good price.
This week i went looking at Tiara's. Found some beautiful ones at very good prices £15-£20. I just wasn't in love with them. Are Tiara's like wedding dresses? Once you see 'the one' you just know?
I was also looking at bridesmaid jewellery with the same issues. As a bridesmaid gift i am going to see if my local jeweller can make a replica of my nan's engagement ring? My bridesmaids are all relations and i think it would really mean something to them. I'm just hoping the price is right.
Attention all brides- help/advice wanted. With our wedding in Cyprus i have been in a quandry about favors. Would people really notice or care if we didn't have them? I don't want to get them for the sake of it. I'm allergic to nuts so the traditional sugared almonds are a no. If i used chocolate i would want good high quality and would have to purchase it their. I don't really want to be taking things over hmph. How much do they matter??
Another help wanted question- What are all you lovely brides getting your groom as a gift? My OH has bought my wedding day jewellery in the aim to kill two birds with one stone. My fiance doesn't wear jewellry or watches. The only piece he will wear is his wedding band. What to do??? I want it to be meaningful like mine is.
I'm loving following this thread with all your fabulous plans etc....
Keep up the good work all!!!!!0 -

Morning all April brides (do we have any grooms?),
How are plans coming along?
I know how you mean about feeling behind cathy2702!!
I have only just started using Pinterest so when i have sussed it out a bit more i may add you if you don't mind. I'm on as Vmedd. I look forward to looking at your pictures.
Where did you get your Wedding ring from? It sounds pretty!! Our jewellery and rings were over budget but they last forever!!
I have had some gorgeous designer shoes for my Wedding. Super expensive but my dream shoes. I definately think i will need a second pair to dance in though:o, I will wear everything twice though:j.
Does anyone have any Wedding preparation plans for this weekend?0 -
I went today and ordered my bridesmaid dresses, have got loulou bridal bridesmaids they're very 50's, so will hopefully arrive for Christmas now.
Can anybody recommend underwear brands for the day. A friend once told me to avoid spanx because I'll be so warm and the dress heavy, to be sucked in with knickers it'll be uncomfortable. It and shoes is the last few things for me to do.
My free postcard invites arrived today from vistaprint, I wanted to check quality and print, so now I've seen them there are a few minor changes, it cost me £3.86 so nothing lost really. Time to get online and do my actual ones now.
I really feel so super relaxed now, all the big things are ordered and paid in full. Just dj and entertainer now, and OH is dealing with the boys so I've no input or worries there.
212 days for me now0 -

I don't really want to be taking things over hmph. How much do they matter?? I personally am not doing favours, I don't like them and don't see the point. However I understand others do, so just think about how important they are to you . If you def want them, we'll help coming up with ideas

My fiance doesn't wear jewellry or watches. The only piece he will wear is his wedding band. What to do??? I want it to be meaningful like mine is. I'm going to get a personalised keyring which I know he will use, but as a decent gift I'm thinking of a red letter day out or an experience for after we come home from honeymoon.

This is a lovely thread, and I find things have been slow but are picking up pace now that we're hitting the 6 month countdown :j0 -
How is everyone getting on?
The postman has been delivering me lots of bits this week!
Littleuns dress has a slight pull on one side and there isn't much we can do about it so we decided to cover it with a nice (pearly) brooch so I took the plunge and ordered one from Ebay and it's ace, really pretty without being the top. Very glad I ordered one for my mum at the same time. I also took a chance on a £9 necklace and earring set and it was much nicer in the flesh than in the picture, am dead chuffed with that too.
Still faffing with my invite design, I need to make my mind up soon though. I made a mock up one and it's nice, but it doesn't wow me and I really want WOW :rotfl:. Have ended up buying a heat embossing kit and will have to have a play with that. Also decided to have a go at making sweet trees with my daughter, thought it would be something fun for us to do together and have the polystyrene balls, dowel rods, glue gun and plaster of paris for the bases - could be interesting, will try and post pics.
Have lots of meetings next week, reception venue Monday, giving notice Thursday (although panicking as OH hasn't had the utility bill copy he requested) and flower lady Saturday.
Have also done the scariest thing and booked a dental appointment. Might not sound like a big deal but I haven't been since I was at school due to bad experiences but I really need to. My teeth aren't awful by any means but I have a gap in my front teeth that I am very self concious off and always try to stop myself from smiling properly. A girl I Zumba with was a dental nurse for 14 years and I have managed to get an appointment with the dentist she worked for so hopefully he will be able to get me all sorted, no idea how much it will cost or what he can do....nervous!

I'm struggling on flowers. Really not sure what to do as I'm also planning from a distance (although not plane distance!) I was sure I wanted artificial but haven't found anything I like

Cheers

If so - I've not found 'the one' either - but I've no idea about my hair either...

I wasn't going to bother at all - waste of money unless there's something you know you want to do. I'm doing them now so I have bags for the drinks vouchers. I'm getting fortune cookies to go with.

My fiance doesn't wear jewellry or watches. The only piece he will wear is his wedding band. What to do??? I want it to be meaningful like mine is. No clue at all what to do! I don't think my OH will think to get me anything unless he's prompted by his family, and he doesn't value 'soppy' mementos too much.Have also done the scariest thing and booked a dental appointment. I'm terrified of dentist and haven't been for about 2 years. My teeth will have to manage! Good luck *hugs*Somethingblue wrote: »I have only just started using Pinterest so when i have sussed it out a bit more i may add you if you don't mind. I'm on as Vmedd. My thoughts too. It's my favourite thing to go over budget on - doesn't feel like a waste as it's forever.
I'm back up north for church this weekend. I'm going to a local(ish) wedding fayre up there on Sunday and am hoping to find a DJ and/or hairdresser and/or flowers type person. Or even a starlit backdrop person which would be incredible as my venue dresser doesn't do it.
The above are my biggest stresses, except the dress, which I'm still nervous about even though I've almost definitely decided to get one made. I kind of wanted that experience of finding "the one" but I have always found fault with shop bought ones I've seen so far. Now, I'm nervous about not seeing the finished article until it's finished - drawings only tell you so much.
I'm shortly going to book my wedding bus. Not sure whether to go for black and ivory or a red one. These are the company I've ended up choosing: http://www.yorkshireheritagebus.co.uk/ Any suggestions?0
