Seriously Strong Cheddar is currently £4.00 per kilo from the cheese counter at Tesco.

It's available in store and online.

  • here is my latest cheap cheese, edam, elemental, or gouda, presliced, at tesco it is 95p for 250 grams but then three for two which ends up working out at £2.53 per kilo !? :D
  • Barbers Premier Moo cheddar at Sainsburys deli counter, got just over a kilo for £6. It's lovely stuff.

Not tried this one though Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Mature Barbers Cruncher (400g) (currently £3.94) is sometimes reduced to £2 every now and again. It's good stuff as well. I have to say, I do like Sainsbury's cheese.

Well stocked up at the moment though.
  • I love Sainsburys deli counter, always loads of offers and loads to chose and nearly always cheaper than buying pre packed. Got myself over a kilo of taste the difference Red Leicester for £4 the other day. It's good stuff!
  • The Lake District Cheese Co. Mild Cheese (350g) £3.49 (£4.99/Kg) any 2 FOR 1 at Tesco until 27/11/2012

The Lake District Cheese Co. Extra Mature Cheddar (350g) ONLY £2 (£5.71/Kg) at ASDA. Not as cheap as some of the offers mentioned above.

bought wyke farms extra mature (green packet) 320g for £1.50 in Makro yesterday, SEL £1.50 but packet labelled £3.

Beware though, block price seems to have fallen again from 400g about a year ago to 350g and now 320g.

Still a good price for decent cheese however.

And the stronger the flavour, the less you need to use.
