  • Ugh, I hate suits! The only ones I wear are boiler suits and they don't do them in pinstripes!! LOL! Sound like a great weekend.

    Ugh, I hate suits!

That makes two of us. Still, if I'm in an office, I'd rather look the part.

Today was pretty sensible after the debauch of the weekend. No snacks, three (just about) balanced meals and only one coffee (with lots of water). I also restarted my jogging podcast, will do it alternate days so as to take a week off the completion time (I was 85% of the way there before I got whiplash!)

As if to challenge my single day of sainthood, our 12 bottles of wine arrived from Tesco :rotfl: Mrs E actually had a bottle of chablis in the freezer, but in a pique of good behaviour I asked her if she actually wanted wine, or if it was just because we had 12 bottles. Common sense prevailed and I have promised her a cuppa and a hug instead to make up for her cack day :)

Not much to report on the MFW front today - a low spend day - off to make some mash for tomorrow to keep up my streak of cooking in advance...

Another snack free day (does two slices of red pepper and licking the spoon from the tasty lemon olive oil count?) Dinner was tasty, but portion control is definitely an odd concept. Hungry most of the time, but not painfully so. Tomorrow is salmon pasta salad with spinach and capers (already made) :A

Grocery shopping was an interesting experience this week - I put through a Tesco home delivery order for Thursday and was doing weird stuff - like looking at calories...

Low spend day again today, payday tomorrow. Nothing I particularly want this month, although I do have those suits to pay for and a stag do coming up fairly soon.

Had a hilarious 1:1 with my boss today that went along the lines of:

    Her: How's you?
Me: Crap, like last time you asked

Not a big fan of my boss - she has glibly ignored mounting problems with our staffing levels, staff absences and ridiculous amounts of [STRIKE]idiot 'executives' having a parts waving contest[/STRIKE] organisational change. At least I managed to say my piece with a smile on my face.

The usual discussion ensued, in which I say I dislike the fact that effort isn't rewarded and she trots out her protestant work ethic (no offence to anyone who's a protestant!)

Tomorrow I will mostly be re-writing procedural instructions. What a boring week :D

Parts waving. That describes so perfectly what I see every day.

A bit more productive today, spent a good bit of time with piles of postit notes planning file structures :D Yeah, I'm cool.

I have taken advantage of the M&S Outlet 25% off code to pick up two new work shirts and some lovely towels in a waffle fabric (we're crazy for all things waffly in our house!) The grand total was £43 from about £70, with a little bit o' cashback on the side.

Am liking the new year cashback gathering. Because we have been good about reducing our frivolous spends, cashback had been a bit thin on the ground of late.

Ended up with a little bit of overtime that I hadn't expected, so that's £70 or so that I can fritter :T

Jogged this evening, cleaned the fish tank and am currently sitting around being manly with a cup of peppermint tea.

4th day of healthiness today and I think I may be overdoing it during the day - I had the shakes by dinner

Banking shuffles all pretty much done, got a statement and cashback from Santander today. New current account is pretty good - roughly £8 cashback for the month after the fee, with interest still to come.

I think I'll see if Mrs E wants to switch her mobile phone payment to it, earn a few extra pennies.

Grocery came this evening, our Tesco points are really starting to add up

Interest added to the c/a - £5.40 for the month after interest. I quite like the idea of the Santander current account, with the 'big pot' approach, everything seems to happen a bit faster. The 2.4% after tax income we're getting is also comparable to the leading instant access ISA, so will do for now.

Not a particularly MFW weekend, although at least it's a short month (only 3 weekends 'til next payday). Mrs E and I did a little bit of food shopping, had a drink at the pub and grabbed a light lunch yesterday.

Today has been the usual whirlwind of hoovering, recycling, fish tank cleaning and driving lessons. I suppose I'll class it as a LSD, although I do need some new shoe laces :rotfl:

My new suits arrived and are very smart. For £49, the quality is great. That's me up to four. Pleased, as it means I'll hopefully not need to buy any more for a couple of years.

More booze has been consumed than is strictly sensible, but we're back to calorie control and I'll be going out for a jog in an hour or so.

Let's hope this week turns out to be a little more exciting.

Let me see - what MFW thing did I do today?

Erm, saved 75p on my lunch? :rotfl:

Sitting here with a glass of chablis from the 12 bottles that Tesco delivered as part of their recent 25% off two French cases + 750 TP offer, chuckling darkly as I wait for my £5 off £40 voucher to turn up so that I can put through some groceries for next week...

On the actual moneysaving side, I have started using Zopa again. While *our* money goes in a S&S ISA as it looks likely to generate a better return, I'm quite happy for a bit of mine to go into Zopa for a small income stream. Most months I will re-invest the lot, in expensive months I will withdraw my ickle stream of 25p repayments and live like a king.

I will be paying myself first with £40 + whatever it takes to round the account to the nearest tenner each month, hopefully it will help me to stick to good habits
