Edinburgher, a very, very belated congrats! I've finally managed to do a proper catch up, I see I've arrived at an exciting time *places bet*
So glad to hear Mrs & baby E are all doing well after the other week, I don't think I've ever sped read as fast!
It's great to hear your plans coming together and the baby fund is looking darn healthy, well done :T
The work situation is sounding very tryingHave you ever read 7 Habits of Highly Effective People? It's got an interesting piece about dealing with hard going colleagues which, as someone who's rather averse to confrontation, I've found quite helpful. Instead of getting (too) irritated with someone, you effectively look for their talents (if they have any
), and work out solutions in which you change your own behaviour when dealing with them and work with them (& their awkward behaviour) in a way that creates positive outcomes. Eventually, instead of colliding with you, they start to move into your sphere of influence where they actively seek/listen to your advice. I don't know if I've explained that very well.
But I avoid any sort of awkward situation like the plague (usually I get such a shock if someone acts out of turn that I literally can't react and then curse myself later when it's late to say anything, or rather, I can't bring myself to question things), but anyway, I found this to be a much more positive way of working with people and it's definitely paid dividends. Not only has a very awkward person become easier to deal with, but I now feel a lot calmer, confident and at ease now I'm not annoyed by her all the time. Of course, just getting away from people works wonders too!

No MFW news, but Mrs E has her 20 week scan today, any bets?
I've been juggling money around between different pots a lot recently! I'm almost looking forward to things quietening down a bit although then I'll be bored. I agree that a nearly new car is far better value!
Congratulations on the baby news :T My money's on a blue baby...no pink...no...I'm rubbish at decisions.

I have to be brief as this is a public forum, but tragic circumstances mean we are no longer expecting BabE.
I needed to mention it as I've been writing about nothing else for months, but it clearly wasn't meant to be.
It would be very much appreciated if commiserations and condolences could be kept private (and off this thread), as there are some topics that can only be shared so much.
Planning on taking a leave of absence from MSE posting, but I will keep up with all your efforts from the wings.0
